Position Overview 

The Project Field Coordinator will play a pivotal role in supporting the Project Lead and Project Manager. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a strong capacity for independent work, often across multiple disciplines and in various settings. The Project Field Coordinator will be crucial in coordinating project activities, mediating between stakeholders, and facilitating negotiations to achieve project goals. 

Project Background 

The project focuses on enhancing the effectiveness of municipal governance and environmental management. It aims to improve the implementation of environmental regulations in urban areas through effective mediation and negotiation between local authorities, community groups, and other stakeholders. The project seeks to address pressing environmental challenges such as pollution and waste management by fostering collaborative problem-solving and dialogue. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • 1. Research and Analysis 
  • Conduct comprehensive research on relevant topics such as laws, governance, and community needs. 
  • Analyze data from surveys, interviews, and baseline studies to generate actionable insights and recommendations. 
  • Stay informed about current policies, challenges, and best practices. 

2. Coordination and Communication 

  • Coordinate project activities and ensure tasks are completed according to the project plan. 
  • Act as a liaison between the Project Lead, Project Manager, and various stakeholders to ensure clear and effective communication. 
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and discussions to support project objectives. 

3. Administrative Support 

  • Assist in preparing and distributing project reports, policy briefs, and other relevant materials. 
  • Track project progress and manage documentation related to activities and outputs. 
  • Support budget monitoring and financial reporting. 

4. Mediation and Negotiation 

  • Facilitate dialogue between municipal authorities, community groups, and other stakeholders to resolve conflicts and align interests. 
  • Act as a mediator to ensure smooth communication and cooperation among diverse groups involved in the project. 
  • Develop and implement strategies to address and overcome obstacles in stakeholder relations. 

5. Policy Advocacy and Engagement 

  • Contribute to the development of policy briefs and recommendations based on project findings and stakeholder feedback. 
  • Engage with national and local government agencies to align local initiatives with broader policies. 

6. Monitoring and Evaluation 

  • Assist in designing and implementing monitoring tools to assess the effectiveness of mediation and negotiation processes. 
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate project outcomes and impact. 
  • Prepare regular progress reports and contribute to project evaluations. 

7. Partnership and Collaboration 

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining partnerships with local and international organizations, educational institutions, and private sector partners. 
  • Participate in forums and collaborative initiatives relevant to the project’s goals. 

 

Qualifications and Skills 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Administration, Social Sciences, Political Science, Urban Planning, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. 

Experience: 2-3 years of experience in project coordination, mediation, negotiation, or related roles. Experience in governance or environmental management projects is advantageous. 

Skills: 

  • Strong research and analytical capabilities. 
  • Excellent mediation and negotiation skills. 
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing project needs. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. 
  • Familiarity with project management tools and techniques. 
  • Fluency in Arabic and English; French is a plus.

  • Willingness to travel frequently to the Bekaa region and other project sites as needed. 

 

Reporting 

The Project Field Coordinator will report directly to the Project Lead and Project Manager and will work closely with all project team members and stakeholders. 

 

Location 

This position is based in Beirut, Lebanon, with frequent travel to the Bekaa region and other project sites.
