Social Protection for the most Vulnerable: Refugees, including Persons with Disabilities

You are cordially invited to attend the live streaming of the 9th dialogue session special edition on the occasion of World Refugees Day titled “Social Protection for the most Vulnerable: Refugees, including Persons with Disabilities
”Wednesday 17 June 2020
These dialogue sessions aim to explore the views of Arab experts and decision makers on the multidimensional impact of COVID19 on equality in the region, in addition to its effect on poverty levels, social protection and the security of individuals and communities from a holistic perspective.
Arab world governments launched many national strategies to improve the economy, create jobs, reduce unemployment, improve livelihoods, and counter the weakness of different societies. However, the social protection available to migrants and refugees, especially in light of this crisis, have become a challenge for all concerned in balancing the provision of social care services to host communities, refugees and migrants fairly without discrimination, while taking into consideration the most vulnerable groups among them; people with disabilities.
This session comes days before the celebration of the International Refugee Day, to explore the comprehensive coverage of social protection systems in the Arab world and its response to the accumulated crises in light of the pandemic, successive refugee crises and difficult economic conditions.
The Dialogue Series is moderated by HE Dr. Sawsan Al-Majali and we are honored to have the following guests speaking at this session:

• Shaden Khallaf, Senior Policy Advisor to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for the Middle East and North Africa.
