About the AIF The Arab Image Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation and study of photography and other related visual material from the Middle East, North Africa and the Arab Diaspora. Established in Beirut in 1997, the foundation holds a collection of more than 400,000 photographs from the mid nineteenth century through today. Since its inception, the AIF has produced fourteen exhibitions and seven publications in partnership with international museums, galleries and cultural institutions. About the projectsThe project officer will assist the project manager in the frame of two projects handled by the Arab Image Foundation in 2012 and 2013- The Middle East Photograph Preservation Initiative, a project led by the Arab Image Foundation, jointly with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the University of Delaware and the Getty Conservation Institute, comprising a photograph collection survey, three photograph preservation courses, and a symposium – more information on www.meppi.org- Towards Cultural Heritage Governance, a project led by the Heinrich Böll Foundation, a partnership with the Arab Image Foundation, the Arab Centre for Architecture, the Association for Arabic Music and la Cinémathèque de Tanger
 
Role of the project officerThe project officer tasks include but are not restricted to:- Project monitoring, organization of team meetings and minutes taking, coordination between team members locally and abroad- Coordination of national, regional and international meetings, networking sessions, and workshops organized by the AIF- Implication in the administrative coordination of the AIF

ProfileThe ideal candidate should have a degree in business, cultural management, or another relevant field – masters preferable. Prior experience in project coordination is desirable. Applicants should be meticulous and rigorous, and able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. Applicants are required to have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and to be fluent in English and Arabic – French is a plus.
Applicants should have a personal interest in cultural heritage, archiving practices, and/or the history of photography.
