Position Summary:

The Food Security Project Officer (PO) is responsible for planning and overseeing the emergency response project in Tyre- South Lebanon, involving basic assistance, food assistance and protection activities, to ensure its objectives are fully achieved in a timely fashion and within budget. The PO plans and designates project resources, monitors progress, manages field staff and keeps internal and external stakeholders informed throughout the project cycle.

 

Responsibilities:

 

General Duties:

  • Lead coordination with donor to identify project beneficiaries in target (Tyre).
  • Lead the development of implementation plans, ensure targets are reached in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the procurement and logistics team in the timely and safe delivery and distribution of food parcels and hygiene kits through implementing partners
  • Plan, coordinate, monitor and provide technical assistance for the implementation of cash assistance activities.
  • Provide support on technical needs of procurement and logistics, such as oversight on purchase requests, quality checks on materials purchases to ensure standards,
  • Develop distribution schedules and ensure safe and orderly distribution, feedback mechanism and post-distribution monitoring
  • Ensure submission of timely reports on various internal and external MEAL reporting platforms (including Activity Info if needed);
  • Support the staff under line management in integrating MEAL activities;

Coordination

  • Actively coordinate with other agencies implementing food security interventions (fresh food vouchers, cash, in-kind support such as food parcels and hygiene kits)
  • Actively coordinate with local governance and groups to support smooth, coordinated implementation.

Team Management

  • Support preparation of team work plans with AM in accordance with the project’s overall implementation plan
  • Ensure the good respect of working condition while in office or the field

Reporting and Evaluation 

  • Ensure weekly and monthly program progress reports elaboration and submission to donors as required in donor agreement terms

Skills and Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience in emergency relief including direct aid distribution and cash assistance
  • Strong experience in managing workflows and logistics
  • Experience with WFP projects highly desirable
  • Fluent in English and Arabic
