          Job purpose

Providing psychological support to patients in order to improve the patients’ mental health.

 

          Generic duties

  • Carrying out evaluation of mental health needs of patients and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment. Informing the patient and his/her relatives about the possible consequences of the illness to follow and referring patients to other health professionals whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient's condition.
  • Support implementing the Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible victims of SGBV and referring them to the medical team so that they receive the necessary treatment.
  • Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to patients according to MSF protocols in order to improve their mental health conditions
  • Assisting and training staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary in order to enhance the scope of MH activities. Working in close collaboration with translators in order to ensure appropriate terminology and behaviour during sessions
  • Collecting statistical and monitoring data about mental health activities in a correct and timely manner
  • Informing the supervisor and the medical team about any issues or problems that may arise related to patients’ treatment in order to provide the best possible solution from a medical perspective.
  • Ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential.

 

     Specific duties

  • Work within a multidisciplinary team in the PHCC in order to ensure a holistic patient centered approach
  • Providing individual MH support
  • Facilitate MH support group sessions in coordination with the multidisciplinary team
  • Contribute & Support in community - and awareness activities related to MHPSS topics, in coordination with the CHE
  • Provide MHPSS and/or PFA sessions to the beneficiaries and their families when needed
  • Plan the weekly interventions relevant to the ongoing cases and keep a clear updated track of all the relevant forms (intial assessment, follow up, referrals)
  • Ensure the confidentiality of the beneficiaries information
  • Participate in learning initiatives, capacity building, events and workshops as requested
  • Taking an active part in meetings and case discussions
  • Willingness to work in a community-based model of care

 

Education 

Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology

Obtained a license to practice the clinical psychology profession from MoPH

 

Experience

  • Essential 2 years’ experience minimum as a psychologist
  • Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGO
  • Desirable previous experience with migrant population
  • Desirable experience in working with patients of different age groups

 

Languages

Essential:         Fluency in Arabic, Good in English
