About Adyan Foundation

Adyan, Foundation for diversity, solidarity and human dignity, works locally, regionally and internationally for pluralism, inclusive citizenship, community resilience, and spiritual solidarity, through homegrown solutions in education, media, policymaking, and intercultural and interreligious relations.

Adyan is registered in Lebanon as a non-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO), under registration number 1103 by a ministerial decree dated 18 September 2008. Recently Adyan started working in Iraq under 5658 registration, dated 18 May 2022 and got registered in Europe having France as basis.

Adyan is an independent organization that works tirelessly to promote its mission both within Lebanon and on a global scale. Its operations extend beyond national borders, reaching diverse communities regionally and internationally. Adyan implements a wide range of initiatives and programs through its dedicated departments, which include the Institute of Citizenship and Diversity Management, Community Engagement, Rashad Center for cultural governance, and Media.

Aydan’s success and impact are not solely attributed to its members, but also to the support it receives from its networks, friends, and honorary members. Moreover, Adyan is equipped with a highly qualified professional team, whose expertise and dedication drive the organization’s programs and ensure their effectiveness.

Overall, Aydan’s multifaceted approach, encompassing cultural, educational, social, and spiritual dimensions, makes it a dynamic force in promoting inclusive societies, fostering dialogue, and nurturing a sense of shared humanity.

 

Aydan’s mission is to work on:

● Valuing cultural and religious diversity in its conceptual and practical dimensions.

● Promoting citizenship, living together and diversity management among individuals and

communities, on the social, political, educational, informational and spiritual levels.

● Offering support to marginalized groups and relief for the afflicted while working to achieve social and transitional justice as well as human and environmental development in a holistic and sustainable way.

 

Our main stakeholders are (children at schools, youth, religious courts, parliamentary committees, the Lebanese Parliament, ministries, the judiciary, religious judges, lawyers working on personal status laws (PSL), the Judges Club, national and regional NGOs, women’s rights NGOs, human rights NGOs (PSL and freedom of religion or belief), and political parties).

Goal 1 Inclusive Governance

Promoting a form of governance that fosters inclusivity, accountability, equity, and a positive approach to diversity (including gender justice, FORB and cultural rights)

 

Goal 2 Citizenship & Coexistence

Fostering citizenship engagement and activism for peace, and creating safe spaces for interaction, for listening to different narratives, for the recognition of each other's grievances, and for memory healing.

 

Goal 3 Pluralism & Justice

Raising awareness about oppressive and unjust systems and structures and building capacities for just

and equitable societies and dynamics, for all to thrive in.

 

Goal 4 Responsibility

Promoting religious discourse, education and engagement that revolves around human rights and works for the common good and for intercommunal solidarity

 

Goal 5 Integral Human Development & sustainable living

Upholding human dignity by supporting the marginalized and most vulnerable and building people's

capacity in a comprehensive manner including psycho-social support, social emotional learning,

development of critical thinking and ethical conscience, towards others and towards the planet

 

 

Brief about the Assignment

ADYAN is looking for an expert to facilitate, formulate and finalize its 25 27 strategy, which  aims to enhance efficiency, improve decision-making, and maintain focus on the organization’s mission. The strategy will also bring team unity and promote its autonomy towards a contribution to a positive impact and positive change. Moreover, the strategy should focus on long-term success, sustainability and organizational growth.

 

Objectives:

•Define clear and achievable strategic goals and areas of focus.

•Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress and success.

•Suggest initiatives with general roadmap for resources allocation, decision making and projects development.

•Ensure the participation and validation of relevant stakeholders during the process.

 

Required deliverables:

1. Assessment of the organization:

•Contain stakeholder and power analysis, environmental analysis including how Adyan connects to MENA civil society organizations (CSOs);

•Identify the priorities and the feasibility of projects to be implemented within the targeted areas of operation. 

 

2. Benchmarks and lessons learned:

•Compare successful initiatives  from other organizations working in the same field of ADYAN to the experience and expertise that Adyan is  bringing to the community.

•List lessons learned extracted from other programs and advise to improve ADYAN  in ’s work. .

•Identify best practices and areas of improvement to be connected complementary programs of sisters’ organizations and stakeholders.

 

3. Mission, Vision and strategic objectives:

•Formulate the strategic objectives, ensuring they align with ADYAN’s mission and vision. Our mission is to promote diversity, peaceful coexistence, support marginalized groups, and work towards holistic and sustainable development. Our vision is to create a world where diversity enriches mutual understanding, inclusive citizenship, and sustainable peace.

•This may involve revisiting and refining ADYAN’s mission and vision to ensure they remain relevant and coherent.

 

4. Master plan and KPIs:

•The master plan is a comprehensive roadmap guiding our organization towards our mission of promoting diversity, peaceful coexistence, and supporting marginalized groups. It includes strategic initiatives, enablers, resource allocation, timelines, and defined responsibilities.

•Set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure ADYAN’s progress and effectiveness.

 

Methodology

The Adyan strategy exercise will span a maximum of four months, from end of July to end of November 2024. Based on the information provided in this TOR, we invite you to submit a technical proposal that includes, but is not limited to, the following: working methodology, main deliverables, stakeholder engagement and participatory approach, and result validation. We are also open to any innovative methods that you believe best align with our objectives.

 

Consultant Profile

The Consultant must:

•Have comprehensive experience of developing strategy documents in the field of development and/or governance reform.

•Have extensive experience in arranging and conducting key informant interviews and focus group discussions, including on sensitive topics. 

•Have in-depth knowledge and awareness of the nuances of the social and political contexts of MENA.

•Be able to fluently understand written and spoken Arabic and English, with professional standard in producing the reports in English.

•Be independent from Adyan, Aydan’s relevant donors, and partners. (to  avoid conflict of interest)

•Be sensitive to and respectful of religious, social and cultural differences and comfortable with working and communicating across differences, including being able to communicate complex ideas in accessible ways and gather data from and with partners across society.

 

Submission of Applications

Applicants for this activity should submit:

1.A cover letter reflecting prior similar experiences (maximum one page).

 

2. Portfolio or CV / Proven track record in rendering similar services/previous experience.

 

3. A technical proposal that clearly outlines

•Understanding of the Assignment

•Analytical Framework and suggested work methodology

•A tentative timeline required to complete the assignment, including key milestones.

•Methodology and approach including data collection and analysis plan

 

4.A Minimum of two references of I/NGO clients for whom similar assignments have been undertaken along with contact person.

 

5. A budget, based on their day rate and that of any other support personnel required.
