Project: Menstrual Hygiene Project

With funding from UN Women and the Government of Japan, ACTED will implement activities tackling period poverty/menstrual hygiene issues. As a part of this, ACTED plans to support a community-based entity to set up a manufacturing facility for the local production of menstrual hygiene products in Bourj Hammoud, Saida and Tripoli. The project will provide support for equipment and raw materials, as well as staffing support to kick start operations and sales. In addition, the project will provide trainings to vulnerable populations working on production & sales.

ACTED is now seeking a financial management consultant to develop and deliver a 5-day workshop for 3 Social businesses based in Tripoli, Beirut and Saida.

ACTED is seeking a financial management and business development consultant to conduct a workshop for three social businesses on Financial management and Business development taking into consideration national regulations in Lebanon. The workshop will include activities on financial planning, budgeting, cash management, accounting, financial health, tax, audit, and development of business proposals.

 

Duration of the consultancy:

  • The estimated duration of the workshop is 15 days followed by 8 hours of individual consultation with each social business. Workshop days are subject to change based on need.
  • The workshops and consultations are expected to start on November 2022.

Deliverables:

  • High quality but simple to use presentation developed for MSMEs on financial management and organizational management, including the following topics:
    • Budgeting,
    • Bookkeeping,
    • Financial reports and statements,
    • Cash management,
    • Accounting,
    • Financial audit,
    • Organizational Management including setting vision & mission, understanding legal status, human resource management, inclusivity etc

The presentations will be prepared based on ACTED global MSME Training Guide content, but adapted to the local context. Additional topics may be decided jointly with the trainer in order to finalize the business plan.

  • Handouts on information presented distributed to social businesses.
  • 5 days of workshop conducted with each of the 3 social businesses.
  • 8 hours of individual consultation with each of the 3 social businesses.

 

Expert profile

  • Have a finance degree.
  • Have a good knowledge of national regulations affecting MSMEs/ social businesses.
  • Have Arabic and English language proficiency.
  • Experience providing MSME/Social businesses support through NGOs is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks.
  • Experience in developing business plans.
