MISSION

 

This project is part of the Hawkamaa-EU initiative: WASH assistance to support water governance and public water and wastewater services in Lebanon for host and refugee communities. IMPACT, through its PANDA (project appraisals and assessments) initiative, is providing coordination support and leads research activities.

This project aims to assess how interactions between community attitudes, existing institutions, and water/wastewater service provision impact the management of water resources.

To support this project, impact is seeking experienced enumerators (data collectors) to conduct interviews in households in Lebanon. The position is open only to Lebanese nationals and will require travel to various parts of the country.

IMPACT’s PANDA initiative supports the entire humanitarian research cycle, including program design, assessments, baselines, monitoring and evaluation.

The Enumerator, under the supervision of the Field Officer, is responsible for collecting and entering assessment data relevant to the research project. He/she will be based in the field.

FUNCTIONS

 

1. Data Collection, Mapping and Data Entry 

The Enumerator will conducting field data collection and office-based data entry; their responsibilities will include:

    • Collecting data and information through surveys during field visits.
    • Carrying out debriefing sessions with Field Officer upon completion of data collection.
    • Ensuring transparent, accurate and timely collection of data
    • Cross-checking information accuracy in adherence with the data checking guidelines to ensure correct data entry; this includes direct follow-up with assessment participants where necessary.
    • Filling the data accurately including all notes collected from the field using Kobo/ODK.
    • Maintaining effective relationships with assessment participants.

 

2. Reporting

The Enumerator is required to provide clear report of information from the field accurately to the Field Officer; their responsibilities will include:

    • Providing daily reports to the Field Officer on the progress of data collection and relevant observations during the mission.
    • Accurately reporting responses from primary data collection.
    • Immediately communicating any issues encountered during data collection to the Field Officer.

 

3. Data Validation and Data Cleaning

  • Submit all data from the mobile phones at the end of each data collection day.
  • Conduct spot-checks for accuracy at the end of each day, following the Field Officer requests;

Technical Requirements

 

  • Fluent in written and spoken Arabic and English
  • Secondary or higher education (at least high school diploma)
  • Previous experience working for a humanitarian organization and/or work experience in data collection.
  • Experience in using KOBO/ODK
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to pro-actively engage assessment participants and form effective relationships.
  • High ability to adapt to field setting, motivated to work in a challenging environment requiring personal flexibility.
  • Strong team player of high integrity; communicates constructively with co-workers and managers and responds positively to instructions and procedures; coordinates own work with others and reflects own work within overall context of project and team’s work; willing to undertake additional responsibilities; contributes to a collegial team environment; demonstrates a high level of personal commitment to team’s work

    The daily worker is required to ensure that all relations with the communities are conducted in a respectful and consultative manner. Diligent attention must be maintained to ensure that communities are adequately consulted and informed regarding ACTED programme objectives, activities, and methodologies.
