Background:

ACDI/VOCA, a US-based NGO funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), is implementing the five-year DHAIM project in Lebanon to advance high-value horticulture by introducing hydroponic production technology and other technical upgrades to improve traditional soil-based production methods. The project was designed to improve lives and liveli­hoods for rural Lebanese producers.

DHAIM works in partnership with three Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (CCIA’s) in Tripoli, Saida and Zahle-Bekaa and four NGOs (Arcenciel, the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development, the Rene Moawad Foundation and the Safadi Foundation) to strengthen the horticulture value chain in Lebanon.

DHAIM is working with its seven partners and their technical staff to introduce improved soil and soilless harvest and post-harvest training/extension services and assistance to farmers across Lebanon.

Objectives:

Increase awareness about DHAIM project activities in Lebanon amongst Lebanese and the international community through video with emphasis on success stories and lessons learned.

Outputs:

Produce one informative 5-7 minute video on key aspects of ACDI/VOCA DHAIM program in Lebanon to be shared with donors, international community, Lebanese population, and all other interested parties. This video should be provided on DVD and electronically.

Key Responsibilities:

The independent contractor will be responsible for the overall coordination of the project and carrying out the following tasks: conceptualizing, realizing, renting equipment (such as camera, lighting, and audio equipment). The independent contractor will be responsible for direction and production of documentary including on site filming, script writing, editing, voice-over (Arabic), graphics, translation of interviews (Arabic to English, and English to Arabic), and subtitling. The independent contractor will ensure the proper delivery of all filming items and services including, but not limited to necessary labor (manpower), equipment and tools or any other services needed for the delivery and support of these items. The independent contractor filming program will include the following site visits

- (June 5 2013)- One day for farmer field day in Beqaa & visit to demo site at AEC in Tanayal

- (June 12 2013) One day for farmer field day in South) & visit to demo site at HF in Saida

- (June 18 2013) One day for farmer field day in Akkar

- (June 26 2013) One day for farmer field day in Zgharta

- Three days for second site visits and filming of specific locations

- Three days for editing, translation, voice over and other.

The independent contractor will carry out interviews with staff, partners, farmers, volunteers and others as deemed necessary by the project. (Contribution and Feedback).
Other details:

The first draft of the movie to be presented no later than July 15th, 2013. A final draft will be submitted before the end of contract.

The project will be delivered in 5 DVD hardcopies. The video file in an easily accessible filetype such as .wmv, .mov, etc, in both a high and low-resolution size.
Skills and experience:

Proven experience in high quality short video/documentary production Significant understanding of DRC Lebanon’s activities, profile and communications needs Significant understanding of the humanitarian field Professional equipment (or access to).
