ABAAD PURPOSE:

ABAAD aims at achieving gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD has a proven record in working in addressing GBV in emergency settings. Through women, boys’ and girls’ empowerment and improving the quality of multi-sectorial assistance for women and girls survivors or at risk of GBV among the host and Syrian refugee population.

Background:

Response and Outreach to Empower Gender Based Violence (GBV) Trauma Survivors, in Syria 2019 is a project being implemented in Damascus, Sweida and Daraa. In the aim of providing quality GBV response, capacity building and prevention services to affected population residing in Syria.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

 

The purpose of the GBV case management for men and boys training facilitator is to ensure adequate case management knowledge and practices are in place, particularly in response to the cases where survivors are men and boys. The 8 days training cycle will be catering to the unique information needs relevant to this category of GBV survivors. The challenge of developing strategies and techniques to safely identify and reach out to such cases will be addressed.

Post Holder Reports Directly to: ABAAD Director of programs

In addition, post holder coordinates closely with the Program coordinator for planning, implementation, and with ABAAD MHPSS & GBV Advisors for technical inquiries.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Designing and implementing a training on GBV case management specifically when the survivors are men and boys, to adequately provide relevant techniques and tools as well as methodologies and practical exercises. The training will be focusing on the safe identification and management of GBV cases when the survivors are males. The below points give more detail on the expected responsibilities:

 

  • Familiarize trainees with the issue of male survivors GBV case management, stigma and challenges associated with GBV case disclosure and develop a contextualized understanding of this approach.
  • Design and contextualize capacity building and training modules and materials, utilizing resources developed in ABAAD when needed, including needed theoretical information on the issue of male survivors GBV case management, addressing the needs of increased skills in the field of case management.
  • Introduce practical strategies and approaches to safely and adequately identify and support GBV male survivors.
  • Prepare training files, including pre and post-tests to measure training impact, training evaluation and any relevant brochures and information materials in a portfolio to each trainee.
  • Develop training agenda.
  • Implement training to three different groups of individuals, each cycle is for 10 days.
  • Prepare training report, include comparison between pre and post-tests, participants’ evaluations of the training and any relevant recommendations.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Master’s degree in clinical psychology, social work; with previous experience in designing similar training on safe identification of male survivors.
  • Substantial knowledge and understanding of the GBV framework and related cultural and contextual dynamics;
  • Experience in providing group and individual support to service providers working with national and/or international NGOs in the region;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
