Climate Justice and Social Movements Inspirator

AAAR and its local partner SHIFT have established a Global Platform (Youth Hub) in Tripoli and named it YARD, where we have recruited a dynamic and motivated inspirator to support in the Global Platform and support the implementation of the youth-friendly activities at the Global Platform. Besides the activities within the GP under the first and third strategic objective, the inspirator will also support under the second strategic objective in implementing the youth-friendly climate activities, which are related to the Global Platform and other locations.

INSPIRATOR TASKS

• Presenting inspirational ideas from other GPs around the world in the space design.
• Prompting green alternative in the space and supporting youth and the climate officer to adapt it in the space.
• Provide mentorship for young people who have attended training at the GP
• Mentor and support young people in their creative campaigning and organizing efforts at the GP youth hubs.
• Support specific learning and campaign activities coordinated by ActionAid or the GP 
• Participate in knowledge sharing networks like the Global Inspirator Learning network
• Cross-country knowledge exchange initiatives
• Personal training and development through induction courses and other training opportunities.

VOLUNTEER TASKS

Support in the implementation of the workplan

• Work closely and assist the GP staff members on the implementation of the agreed on workplan with the youth members.
• Keeping close communication channels with youth members, core team members and staff members.
• Work closely with project office on the GOLD program ( Global organizing and leadership development program) courses

Support the design of the Global Platform physical space in Tripoli.

• The inspirator will support the youth members and the climate officer in applying the activities under the climate component within the GP with the climate officer
• Support youth groups in attaining the platform ground rules.

Support the functioning and operating of the Global Platform in Tripoli.

• Support the GP officer, the climate officer and the youth members in the implementation of the designated approved workplan.
• Support SHIFT and the youth core team in operating the day-to-day work.
• Conduct induction sessions for youth at the GP for new youth members.  
• Support youth group in implementing initiatives and youth-led actions.

INSPIRATOR PROFILE

Required skills

• Bachelor’s degree in social studies or any relevant experience
• Min 1 year experience at one of the ActionAid global platforms or at a youth hub related to other youth organizations or social movements. Or inspiring experience from another relevant youth project initiative.
• Knowledge of relevant concepts of international refugee and human rights law and understanding of protection principles and significant understanding of Lebanon’s humanitarian, political and socio-economic context, and main challenges affecting refugees in Lebanon.
• High knowledge of GOLD program (Global organizing and leadership development program) by discussing the content  with the Youth members
• Preferably Arabic speaking but not a MUST.
• English and Arabic Written documentation skills
