Oxfam has been working in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for over five decades and over the past four decades it has been promoting gender equality and supporting women’s right to participate and be represented in governance and decision-making structures and processes.
Oxfam has been working in Lebanon since 2006. Oxfam has a regional Gender Justice Hub that administers a regional gender justice programme and a Lebanon programme working on Water and Sanitation activities, Protection and Emergency Food and Sustainable Livelihoods programmes. Oxfam works with local Lebanese non-governmental organisations and local municipalities.

Oxfam in Lebanon (OiL) is planning a national gender analysis that explores the major needs, relationships, and differences between men and women in OiL’s areas of intervention, their access to resources, their activities, and the challenges they face relative to each other. The analysis will look into several areas of focus, including livelihood, employment, security and access to services and rights including SRHR with the aim of determining common issues and threats and drafting recommendations to discuss, develop, and inform mitigation and response plans.

The Economic Justice Advisor provides timely and high-quality technical support to Oxfam and partner teams in Lebanon on all matters related to economic justice. S/he promotes programme learning and continuous improvement of programme quality and effectiveness, strengthened accountability, and supports the production of evidence from programmes underpinning effective advocacy and campaigns.
