Terms of Reference (TOR) – Nutritionist Consultant

Project: Increasing Resilience of Crisis Affected Women and Girls in Tyre (Sour) through comprehensive Livelihood and Protection Services.

1.Objective: The Nutritionist Consultant will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise and guidance on food production, food reservation and storage, and setting the menu for the kitchen to ensure nutritious meals are provided to vulnerable families. The project aims to improve food security and nutrition for crisis-affected vulnerable families in the Tyre area. The project aims to address the immediate and long-term needs of vulnerable families in Tyre-South Lebanon through a holistic approach that focuses on the safety, well-being, and empowerment of women and girls.

2. Responsibilities:

• Develop a menu plan for the community kitchen that meets nutritional standards of beneficiaries.
• Collaborate with the Chef to train Cash for Work individuals on food production, food reservation and storage, and the preparation of nutritious meals.
• Provide technical support and guidance to kitchen staff to enhance their cooking skills and ensure food safety.
• Collaborate with the project team to integrate nutrition education into all project activities.

3. Key Deliverables:

• Menu plan developed and implemented for the community kitchen.
• Guidance manual on food production, food reservation and storage, and nutrition.

4. Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in nutrition program management, preferably in emergency or crisis settings.
• Strong knowledge of food production, food reservation and storage, and nutrition standards.
• Experience working with vulnerable populations.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.

5. Reporting

• Report to the Project Coordinator.

6. Coordination

• Coordinate closely with the Project Coordinator, kitchen staff, and other project staff.
• Collaborate with partner organizations and stakeholders.

Duration and Location:

• Consultancy position, a 3-month contract position based in Tyre, Lebanon.
