Human Rights Network-A call for new members
About the network
The Human Rights Network consists of non-governmental organizations, universities, local civil society organizations, and individuals working on defending human rights. It aims to defend and protect marginalized groups and reduce discrimination, violations, and bad practices against these groups in the health, social, security, and economic facilities/ spheres/institutions. The network was established in 2017, composed of the Arab Institute for Women at the Lebanese American University, Soins Infirmiers et Developpement Communautaire (SIDC), Skoun, Lebanese Addiction Center, and Dar Al Amal Organizations under the USAID-funded Building Alliances for Local Advancement, Development and Investment - Capacity Building program (BALADI CAP).
Mission
The Human Rights Network advocates to limit discrimination and violations of practices against marginalized groups and aims to protect them in the health, social, security and economic facilities/ sectors in the belief of human rights and the achievement of equality and social justice.
Vision
A healthy, socially secure, and economic environment governed by the law and free of discrimination against marginalized groups.
Objectives
Reducing discriminatory practices at the health and social level:
1. Providing health and social services to marginalized groups
2. Establishing a transparent and accessible mechanism for marginalized groups to file complaints in cases of violations
3. Urging hospitals to implement the circular of Ministry of Health that abolishes the obligation of hospitals to report to the security forces when receiving overdose cases in emergencies as a result of drug use
Reducing discriminatory practices at the security level:
1. Facilitating the provision of alternative treatment
2. Establishing a transparent and accessible mechanism for marginalized groups to file complaints in case of violations by practice
3. Establishing a mechanism to monitor the implementation of the code of conduct for security personnel during the detention and imprisonment of marginalized groups
4. Providing health and psychological services to prisoners

Conditions of affiliation:
Local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs):
- Application Form
- Establishment statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Interior affairs
- A history and long experience in advocacy and activism.
Individuals:
- Up-to-date CV
- Judicial Record
- A profile that does not contradict the Human Rights Network objectives
