Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is a global, nonprofit organization that strives to share God’s love and compassion for all through relief, development and peacebuilding. Established in 1920, MCC has almost 100 years of experience working with local communities to respond to basic human needs and work for peace and justice and currently operates in 54 countries around the world. MCC has been present in the Middle East for over 50 years, and currently supports projects in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine and Egypt. MCC maintains an office in Beirut, coordinating and supporting projects throughout Lebanon which are implemented in close partnership with local organizations. The portfolio of supported projects include food assistance, livelihoods and early recovery, WASH, education, psychosocial support and peacebuilding.

Canadian Foodgrains Bank, a donor of Mennonite Central Committee, is launching a call for a Gender Consultant to provide support to partners in updating and strengthening their gender analysis, identify areas to strengthen the gender sensitivity of their programming, and look for opportunities to integrate gender transformative elements into current projects.

This call for proposals is being launched within the framework of a European Commission funded project financed under the European Instrument For Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) which started in December 2018 and implemented by Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) and Development for People and Nature Association (DPNA). The purpose of this call is to implement peacebuilding activities by 18-21 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in their local communities that are poised to combat religious intolerance and discrimination among target communities.

The Gender Technical Officer will strengthen the integration of gender equality and women’s empowerment issues in relief, development, and peacebuilding projects in MCC’s programming in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. Based in Beirut, the worker is primarily tasked with supporting MCC and its partners to ensure that gender sensitivity and empowerment, including PSEA, is appropriately integrated into project planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting. This includes conducting assessments, trainings, field visits and development of tools for use by staff and partners.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will provide support to the relief, development and peacebuilding projects in Lebanon. Based in Beirut, they are primarily tasked with providing M&E support to partners including field visits, support with proposals and reports, evaluation work, and communications. Other responsibilities for this position could include training, advocacy work, translation, supporting program visits, logistics and administrative tasks for various capacity building trainings, coordinating with external stakeholders, and a willingness to support MCC’s mission in other tasks.
