We are looking for an experienced Area Monitor in Beirut and Keserwan.

About the position:

Tabitha is looking for a full time Area Monitor who will be responsible for monitoring the logistics aspects of the Lebanon School Snacks Program in Public Schools. The Area Monitor will supervise the distribution of meals and will follow-up on the progress of the implementation of the below-mentioned responsibilities, with reporting to the Project Manager on his/her findings.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Monitoring the delivery, daily usage of food products and proper storage of supplies and equipment in the school storage room.
  • Meeting with parents to introduce the program and to assess its impact.
  • Ordering the exact quantities needed to avoid any food waste and to guarantee freshness of food served to children.
  • Controlling the inventory for food and non-food items.
  • Oversee the food distribution process.
  • Controlling the quality of food purchased and prepared, to avoid any food contamination.
  • Facilitating inventory and leftover management in schools.
  • Filling a meals production tracking sheet on daily basis.
  • Tracking the pricing of commodities.
  • Monitoring the unit cost per meal.
  • Conducting awareness session for children in classroom about healthy eating and hygiene.
  • Collecting program data for management and operational decisions. (Enrolment, Attendance, Inventories).
  • Communicating with other key departments: logistics, communication, finance and administration when needed.
  • Keep the project manager informed of all logistics aspects related to the implementation.
  • Prepare field visit reports and submit weekly status reports on distribution activities.
  • Collect necessary data and fill out daily check forms at schools.
  • Collect and enter data in M&E forms on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Work closely with schools’ administrations and make sure that they accurately provide all required data and information.
  • Ensure food safety and security norms and standards are applied, mainly at storage and distribution phases.
  • Assist in the implementation of the project activities in schools by training school staff on data entry, data analysis and reporting when needed
  • Training school staff on the project aspects if required
  • Follow-up on the distribution phase
  • Daily visit to schools participating in the project throughout the area of concern, to ensure that Tabitha’s policies and procedures are being correctly implemented and complied with.
  • Work with the schools’ administrations on preparing draft distribution plans.
  • Report to the project Manager on problems encountered and success made.
  • Notify the project Manager of any discrepancies, evidence of misuse, abuse, or diversion of commodities found during distribution, and of any obstacles that may develop or that are foreseen.
  • The area monitor may be required to visit school locations outside of Jbeil and Keserwan.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • BSc degree in Social Work, food safety or any related field.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.  
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Capacity and willingness to travel to the field.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; French is a plus.

Experience:

  • 1 to 2 years’ work experience.
  • Previous experience in NGOs and humanitarian field is an advantage.
  • Working Conditions
  • Stationed in the field with frequent visits to schools in concern.  
  • Visits to Tabitha office in Baabda for meetings, training and related paperwork.
  • Preferably that candidate resides in the same relevant area.
  • The candidate should have a driving license and a car.
