We are seeking a motivated accounting student or recent graduate to join our non-profit organization as a part-time Accountant Intern. In this role, you will receive inductive training from the president to work directly with the organization's project coordinators to maintain accurate financial records and support the accounting needs of our ongoing projects. Furthermore, you will receive training that fits your needs whenever applicable. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the humanitarian sector and develop essential accounting skills that will be valuable for your future career.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, processing payments, and reconciling accounts
Review or prepare - when necessary - financial reports and statements related to the organization's project-based activities
Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions in the organization's accounting system
Support the preparation of the annual budget and provide variance analysis as needed
Help ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulations
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and recommend efficiencies
Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by the President or project coordinators
Adhere to the organizations' internal policies and procedures
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Familiar with using accounting software and proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
