Job Purpose

The GBV Case worker will be working on Amel’s GBV & SRH project alongside with other team members under the supervision of the Field Coordinator and the Program Coordinator. He/She is based in one of Amel’s centers in Al Ain. He/She coordinates and reports on the implementation of the project.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • - Provide gender-based violence case management, including direct psychosocial support, to vulnerable beneficiaries, particularly at-risk adolescents’ girls, women, and LGBTIQ+ individuals, in accordance with best practices and international standards.
  • - Case management services will involve assessing needs, developing a recovery action plan, referring individuals to appropriate services, implementing the action plan, and ensuring proper follow-up and case closure as necessary.
  • - Support the identification of vulnerable targeted groups, including home visits, internal and external referrals, and cooperation with other stakeholders.
  • - Ensure that the POC's data is filled out and stored in an appropriate protection information system in compliance with data protection policies, while also maintaining confidentiality.
  • - Flag all high-risk cases in which judicial intervention is required to the GBV Program Coordinator and ensure they are referred immediately.
  • - Attend monthly supervisory meetings to verify adherence to care standards and appropriate case management.
  • - Actively contribute to the upkeep of an up-to-date service mapping of the service providers operating in the implementation area, with the assistance of team members.
  • - Inform the project coordinator about deficiencies in GBV response services and referral protocols.
  • - Adopt and apply all the monitoring and evaluation tools related to the different project activities.
  • - Prepare and submit reports and documentation for activities in a timely manner and report directly to field coordinator.
  • - Coordinate with the entire team, especially the psychotherapist, to ensure that proper and holistic services are offered to the identified vulnerable groups.
  • - Assist in providing age-appropriate psychosocial support sessions in mobile and static-safe spaces.

Other Duties:

  • - Adhere to the principles and guidance of the National SGBV Case Management and SOPs, including mandatory reporting requirements.
  • - Attend and participate in local and capacity-building trainings throughout the year.
  • - Be available to attend and participate in internal and external meetings.
  • - Meetings with other program staff are required and will be on a timely basis.
  • - Maintain positive relations with other team members.
  • - Ensure the utmost confidentiality of the beneficiary's data and information.
  • - Maintain flexibility to apply and undertake any other task related to the project and required by the center coordinator and/or field and program coordinators.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements: 

  • - Education: BA in Social Work.
  1. - In depth knowledge of Gender mainstreaming in the humanitarian context and familiarity with the main GBV tools, including the IASC Guidelines on GBV in Emergency Settings, the Interagency GBV Case Management Resources Package and the guidelines on PSEA.
  2. - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within multi-cultural environments; ability to work within a team structure or independently, flexible, and can cope with stressful workloads and working with limited resources.
  • - At least 3 years practical experience in implementing GBV projects at international or national NGOs.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in provision of case management service and support to GBV survivors.
