Description: 

Under the direct supervision of the Healthcare Officer, the Malnutrition Monitor will be working closely with the treatment PHCs and providing them with on-job coaching and following up on the implementation of the malnutrition treatment program at the PHC level.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Conduct weekly visits to PHCCs treating acute malnutrition cases in the area.
  • Monitor and coordinate the implementation of the malnutrition treatment program at the PHC satellite unit (PSU) activated by IOCC.
  • Conduct on-the-job training to the designated health staff on anthropometric measurements (MUAC, weight, height and edema) and management of acute malnutrition for children under 5 and PLWs whenever needed.
  • Ensure the correct implementation of the referral process (PHC to PHC, PHC to hospital, hospital to PHC)
  • Provide the needed support and guidance to ensure proper follow-up of children admitted for management of acute malnutrition and prevent a high incidence of defaulters.
  • Refer malnutrition cases to specialized agencies to receive the needed support when needed (cash assistance, food assistance…)
  • Coordinate with the MoPH-PHC coordinator in the area and relevant stakeholders to ensure an optimal implementation of the program.
  • Follow up with referred beneficiaries to the screening, treatment centers, or hospitals treating acute malnutrition cases to ensure they have received the service they need.
  • Follow up with the caregivers of malnourished children on a regular basis to ensure compliance to the treatment as per the Nutrition sector SOPs and identify any possible barriers for accessing and sustaining access to care.
  • Monitor and follow up on subsidizing acute malnutrition consultations at the acute malnutrition management centers and ensure that the centers follow the regulations and that the financial records are maintained accordingly.
  • Report and raise major challenges or concerns related to the referrals to the health and nutrition area coordinator.
  • Work closely with the community outreach workers and ECD specialists and other project team members to ensure proper identification and referrals of malnourished cases
  • Attend relevant training sessions as required.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.

  • B.Sc. in Nutrition/Dietetics preferred or related field
  •  
  • Experience:
  • 2-3 years of work experience
  • Previous experience in working with vulnerable populations is an advantage.

Working Conditions

  • Stationed in the field, daily visits to the PHCs in South and Nabatiyeh
  • Visits to Beirut office for meetings, trainings, related paperwork.
  • Candidate should have a car.
