Background

ACTED is an International Non-Governmental Organization registered in France with global operations in Central and South Asia, Europe, Middle-East and Africa. ACTED has been active in Lebanon since 2006 operating mainly in the North and Beirut and Mount Lebanon governorates of Lebanon. ACTED has recently launched a program through GIZ To enhance the contribution in the circular economy transition of pre-identified MSMEs operating in agriculture and agri-food value chains in Lebanon

 

Functions

The Project assistant shall be responsible for:

 

    • Project Planning and Implementation

 

  • With the support of Project Manager, design a weekly plan and implementation strategies;
  • Day-to-day visit to the field to oversee the establishment and monitoring of sub-grant works;
  • Provide updates of the field work done on daily basis;
  • Ensure correct and efficient use of resources;
  • Conduct committee meetings with cooperatives, trainings and Focus Group Discussions when needed;
  • Reviews strategies and recommend changes based on feedback from the community;
  • Notify Project Manager in case of any problem or obstacle in the field

 

 

    • Project Reporting

 

  • Collect information needed of beneficiaries and distributed material and communicate effectively with the Project Manager;
  • Keep an accurate filling system;
  • Archive and report on conducted trainings and meetings;
  • Communicate systematically with the team on project progress and planning;
  • Participate in documenting lessons learned and best practices during the project.
  • Keep line manager and Security officer informed about any security issues. Follow internal security guidelines;
  • Refer complaints and delays to relevant ACTED’s staff;

 

 

    • Coordination and external representation

 

  • Coordinate closely with the project partners, established committees, selected MSME’s and relevant stakeholders to ensure an effective implementation of the project;
    • o Accountability to Communities and Beneficiaries

The Project Assistant is responsible for ensuring that all relations with the communities we work are conducted in a respectful and consultative manner.  Due attention must be paid to ensuring that communities are adequately consulted and informed about ACTED programme objectives, activities, beneficiary selection criteria, and methodologies.  This is the responsibility of every ACTED staff member.

 

Knowledge, skills

  • University degree in Agriculture Science or closely related field is a plus;
  • 1-2 years of field experience in similar position focusing on outreach and community work;
  • Fluent in Arabic, with good written and verbal English skills and the ability to work in an international context;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and external relations;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Flexible and hardworking;
  • Knowledge and understanding of international assistance.
  • Prior experience using basic computer software required, notably in word and excel.
