1. BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The Clinical supervisor shares responsibilities with the Director with an emphasis on the management of clinical services and maintains the overall responsibility for the functioning of this subarea. The clinical supervisor supervises clinical members of the staff and manages the office in the absence of the Director. As a member of the clinical staff of Counseling Services, the clinical supervisor also provides counseling to AUB students, consultations to faculty and staff about students, and conducts awareness sessions and conferences to the AUB community.

 

2. DUTIES PERFORMED:

  • Assists the Director in the management of the clinical aspects of the Counseling Center and the crisis situations within the campus community.
  • In the absence of Director, provides oversight and responsibility for the counseling center.
  • Participates in the continuous evaluation and improvement of Counseling Center Services and procedures.
  • Conducts awareness sessions and conferences as may be required.
  • Provides consultations to faculty and staff regarding university student mental health.
  • Monitors the flow of student intakes, terminations, referrals, and daily diverse clinical services.
  • Provides clinical supervision to counseling staff members on direct counseling services.
  • Overviews the development and quality of outreach services (awareness sessions) and supportive groups.
  • Participates in one or more areas of Counseling Center service where needed (peer to peer support services, training of faculty and staff).
  • Participates in the reporting overview of the services provided by the Counseling Center staff.
  • Participates in the assessment of students’ satisfaction and outcomes.
  • Leads on the annual evaluation of each clinical professional staff member with the director.
  • Participates in the development and/or maintenance of the center’s resources including but not limited to the standard operating procedures manual, referral lists, Website, and other resources.
  • Provides students with short-term counseling and crisis interventions; refers for psychiatric evaluation, specialized treatment, and/or long-term therapy where appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

3. WORK CONTACTS:

Regular contacts with the Director of counseling center, counseling center staff and student affairs personnel, occasional contact with scholarship programs personnel, and faculty members. Some contact with the Dean’s office and other units at the office of student affairs.

4. INDEPENDENCE OF OPERATION:

Reports to the Director of counseling center.

Works according to established procedures, clearly set precedents and professional administrative standards.

Completed work is subject to subsequent review.

 

5. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Provides administrative and clinical supervision to counseling staff members.

 

6.   PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Minimal.

7.   WORK CONDITIONS:

Clean and pleasant.

8.   MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology.
  • Licensure as a Psychologist in Lebanon.
  • Five years of post-licensure related work experience.
  • Experience with providing clinical and administrative supervision of mental health professionals.
  • Experience with Public Speaking.
  • Experience with Crisis intervention.
  • Ability to demonstrate superior clinical and therapeutic skills and to foster positive therapeutic relationships with a diverse population of students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to be contacted by phone immediately when scheduled as the back-up on-call clinician and when Director is unavailable.
  • Excellent command of English.
