About the program: “The Generation of Innovation Leaders/GIL” is a program by UNICEF designed to address the high unemployment rates among youth in Lebanon & their lack of access to the knowledge economy. UNICEF is implementing this project in partnership with Berytech.

About Berytech: A leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking, and company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and high-level skills in Lebanon.  Under the GIL project, Berytech aims to Increase access of Lebanese and non-Lebanese youth (17-25 years) to technical and vocational training and innovative skills-building programs for improved professional readiness and employability.

About GIL Innovation Labs: UNICEF Innovation Lab Network Programme (GIL – Generation of Innovation Leaders) is a network of 13 innovation labs all over Lebanon that aims at the provision of two sets of skills: Design Thinking and Business Development Skills (Social Entrepreneurship) and Digital Skills training tailored for youth in Lebanon. Engaging young people in their communities is a priority for UNICEF to address social cohesion challenges among different communities, and to support and empower youth to engage in healthy lifestyles and become more civically engaged. Since 2017, UNICEF has reached over 50,000 adolescents and youth with integrated and structured life skills, sports for development, and positive leadership programs.

 

Scope of work

 

The E-commerce Website Intern will be responsible for the 4-month setup and management of our Shopify platform, showcasing products created by marginalized youth in the GIL Program. Key tasks include structuring the website, managing product listings, coordinating data collection with startups, and ensuring a visually cohesive platform. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to social impact by empowering youth entrepreneurs through effective e-commerce representation.

Responsibilities

 

 

  • Shopify Website Setup:
    • Configure and set up the website structure on the Shopify platform.
    • Customize website elements to align with the branding and goals of the GIL program.
  • Product Listing and Updates:
    • Create and manage product listings on the Shopify e-commerce platform.
    • Ensure accurate and up-to-date product information, including descriptions, prices, and images.
  • Data Collection Coordination:
    • Coordinate with startups and youth to collect necessary information for product listings.
    • Facilitate the submission of product details, images, and other relevant data.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct regular quality checks on product listings to ensure accuracy and consistency.
    • Work with startups to address any discrepancies or issues in product information.
  • Customer Support:
    • Assist in handling customer inquiries related to products and orders.
    • Provide timely and helpful responses to customer queries.
  • Collaboration with Startups:
    • Establish and maintain communication channels with startups and youth entrepreneurs.
    • Facilitate the onboarding of new products and startups onto the Shopify platform.
  • Content Creation Support:
    • Collaborate with the content creation team to ensure that product listings are visually appealing and aligned with the overall branding strategy.
Requirements

 

  • Educational Background:
    • Pursuing or completed a degree in MIS, E-commerce, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in setting up and customizing websites on the Shopify platform.
    • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce).
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Tech-Savvy:
    • Comfortable working with online platforms and tools.
    • Basic knowledge of website content management systems.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Effective communication skills for coordinating with startups and the internal team.
  • Time Management:
    • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines and complete tasks within a part-time schedule.
  • Interest in Social Impact:
    • Passion for supporting marginalized youth and contributing to social impact initiatives.
