DRC has been responding to various humanitarian crises in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian, Iraqi and Syrian refugees. DRC received registration from the Ministry of Interior in 2011, and since then has focused primarily on responding to the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and the resulting impact on Lebanese host community. DRC Lebanon’s focus is to ensure that we are able to respond to critical emerging humanitarian needs whilst improve the living conditions of displacement-affected populations and contribute to the achievement of durable solutions.   With an annual portfolio of $12million, and with approximately 200+ staff, DRC is focusing its response in protection and economic recovery (Ec-Rec) sector in Bekka, North Lebanon and Beirut. DRC is also contributing to the evidence base and coordination structures in country through our Evidence Generation and referral information management (RIMs) teams.

 

About the job

Provide case management to people with specific needs, conduct psychosocial support and counseling and support outreach and awareness raising activities targeting persons at heightened risks.

 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • In compliance with best-practice and international standards, provide case management, including direct psychosocial support, to vulnerable PWSN, particularly women at-risk, older persons and persons with disabilities. Case management services will include assessment of needs, development of an action plan for recovery, conducting referrals to relevant services, implementing the action plan and ensuring appropriate follow up and case closure when appropriate;
  • Support the identification of vulnerable Persons at heightened risks, including through home visits, received referrals, and coordination with other stakeholders;
  • Provide age- and disability-appropriate individual counseling for PWSN; including the provision of information on available services; to facilitate their inclusion in their community;
  • Provide age- and disability-appropriate quality psychosocial support in mobile and static safe spaces,
  • Ensure timely filing and storage of case management data in relevant protection information management systems, in compliance with data protection policies, and ensure the confidentiality of case management data and information throughout the case management process, including protection referrals;
  • Work closely with other DRC protection teams and external service providers to ensure access to relevant services in line with case plans and based on informed consent and ensure appropriate follow-up
  • At all times, ensure the safety and respect of PWSN, their effective inclusion in activities, in addition to the confidentiality of their information and their right to access services without any discrimination;
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly work plans in a timely manner with validation from the Protection Team Leader;
  • Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on challenges in the implementation of the program;
  • Participate in regular supervisory meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care and appropriate case management;
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationship with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders and service providers;
  • Actively contribute to the maintenance of an up-to-date service mapping of the service providers operating in the area of implementation;
  • With the support of the Protection Team Leader, identify the need for and attend case conferences with relevant key actors when needed;
  • Raise gaps in PWSN response services and referral protocols to the PWSN Protection Officer and Protection Team Leader;
  • Immediately flag safety concerns to the Protection Team Leader throughout the case management process
  • Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Protection Team Leader or by the Protection Manager.

 

About you

To be successful in this role we expect the following:

 

Required

  • Bachelor in Social work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in delivering case management or counseling to PWSN required
  • Good knowledge of case management principles
  • Good understanding of disability, inclusion principles and mental health related matters
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, safety and inclusion of PWSN at all times
  • Excellent gender and age-appropriate facilitation skills, adult learning techniques, and good knowledge of protection and PSS principles
  • Strong communication and counseling skills, including the ability to communicate with survivors effectively

Desirable

  • Fluency in Arabic 
  • Ability to communicate and write clearly in English is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
  • Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible with working hours and able to handle pressure well
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings is a plus
