Assignment Context: 

For 70 years, UNICEF has been working on the ground in 190 countries and territories to promote children's survival, protection and development. The world's largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Child Protection Officer or her designated mandated representatives, the UN Volunteer will: 

Support to Child Protection (CP)/ Mental Health Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Gender-based Violence (GBV) Programme Development and Planning:

• Research and analyze regional and national political, protection, social and economic development trends. Collect, analyze, verify, and synthesize information to facilitate programme development, design and preparation. 
• Prepare technical reports and inputs for programme preparation and documentation, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and relevancy of information. 
• Support to strengthening community mobilization for child rights and child protection, including through the End Violence Affecting Children initiative. 
• Promote of the mainstreaming of psychosocial health promotion and prevention in schools and PHC centers. 
• Contribute to the identification of critical intervention points and measures by administering a consistent and transparent monitoring system; analyse country level socio-political-economic trends and their implications for ongoing programmes and projects. 
• Draft or prepare programme CP/MHPSS/GBV workplans as required. 
• Propose adjustments/changes in the workplans. 
• Contribute to coaching and technical support for child Protection Networks (CPNs) in Palestinian Camps and gatherings. 
• Support service mapping and attend local coordination meetings based on request. 
• Act as OiC CP Programme officer on the implementation of PSEA polices and guidelines including checking knowledge and mainstreaming PSEA in programme cycle. 
• Support capacity building plans, logistically and through material preparation. 

Support to CP/MHPSS/GBV Programme Monitoring: 

• Undertake field visits to UNICEF-supported projects in the Palestinian camps and gatherings to monitor the implementation of the CP/MHPSS/GBV projects and report information for supervisor on agreed performance indicators to drive more efficient management and accountability for result. 
• Ensure gender and disability policies are mainstreamed in partner’s interventions and results. 
• Participate in Mid-Year and Annual reviews meetings with partners and government counterparts. 
• Contribute to the annual PPL status report in a timely manner, as required. 

Knowledge Management: 

• Contribute to the PPL by supporting knowledge management through providing professional assistance in data collection and analysis, complete and accurate.  
• Make professional contribution to the preparation of PPL reports required for the management and donors.
