Job Title: Pharmacist

Reports to: General Manager

Working Hours: Full time (9:00 am – 4:00 pm).

 

Description

Under the direct supervision of the General Manager of Barbara Nassar Association for Cancer Patients Support (BNA), the Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring an efficient management of the pharmacy, in the respecting of the established medical procedures, as well as BNA overall principles, in order to provide quality health services to adult cancer patients.

RESPONSABILITIES AND TASKS

  • Ensure proper pharmaceutical management (dispensing medications, storage, distribution, inventory, consumption, and data management) in collaboration with the General Manager.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of prescriptions and providing medication counseling to patients, while making certain that drugs are dispensed to the beneficiaries/target population.
  • Respond to incoming phone calls from cancer patients, and actively listen to their concerns and questions and work to determine the best course of action for the patient and provide appropriate advice and support.
  • Educate patients and their families about the appropriate use of medications.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical companies to ensure the availability of necessary medications for cancer patients and to seek grants /medical donations.
  • Assist in the development of educational materials for cancer patients and their families.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines related to the use of pharmaceuticals.
  • Participate in community outreach activities to promote awareness about cancer and the services provided by the association.          
  • Provide necessary support to BNA team in terms of the activities’ implementation (training, capacity building).
  • Have technical oversight on data collection (in/out, consumption) and ensure accurate data entry into the pharmacy management software (currently on excel).
  • Ensure the appropriate filing of documentation and archives in collaboration with the administrative assistant/secretary.
  • Participate in external meetings related to pharmacy and in health-related meetings.
  • Propose innovative ways to update existing procedures.

 

Data collection and reporting

  • Provide monthly basis consumption report to the General Manager in a standard format.
  • Ensure a direct supervision of the medical data collection and reporting system implemented in the association in collaboration with the Administrative Assistant/secretary.
  • Following the provision of training by MOPH or other international agency, provide continuous follow up/monitoring to guarantee impact and quality of care to the beneficiaries.
  • Contribute technically to the writing of donors’ reports and proposals specifically for information on pharmacy.

The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are non-exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project’s needs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & PREFERRED SKILLS

Mandatory requirements:

  • Language Skills: Fluent in English and Arabic, (speaking/reading/writing).
  • Education Degree: Pharmacist, minimum experience of 2 years
  • Work experience: Proven experience in NGOs. Knowledge of the project cycle and logical framework; ability to monitor activities’ indicators;
  • Computer Skills: Good knowledge of the MS office software including Word, Excel, Outlook.
