With funding from the World Food Programme (WFP), IOCC is intending to recruit a food safety consultant to work on updating pre-existing training materials and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training the quality control team who will be monitoring the preparation of cold sandwiches by volunteer parents in public schools’ kitchens, and ensuring proper food safety standards at the suppliers’ warehouses. The aim of the project is to feed students that attend the schools in the morning and afternoon shifts.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assess the training needs of the kitchen teams and quality control officers in kitchens and in the suppliers’ warehouses
  • Enforce standards for food safety and sanitation procedures in the warehouses and school kitchens
  • Develop plans for food safety management procedures, including training staff on food safety principles and practices
  • Perform food safety inspections and monitor food safety conditions in school kitchens and warehouses of suppliers
  • Prepare reports on findings and recommendations regarding food safety issues and follow-up to ensure the application of the recommendations.
  • Update training strategies and kitchen Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) / food safety training manual based on the ISO 22000 standards
  • Conduct ToTs (Training of Trainers) upon need for relevant staff members  
  • Perform other duties when required

Requirements and qualifications

  • Internal audit qualification is a plus
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting food safety and personal hygiene trainings and offering relevant consultancies
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management system and food safety.
  • Proven capacity in management, leadership and teamwork
  • Excellent training skills
  • Excellent communication skills and team building skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
