Are you an experienced Protection specialist with a passion for quality programming and an interest in expanding your scope and experience into new contexts working with partners? An exciting new opportunity has arisen within Tearfund's Eurasia and North Africa (ENA) Team in the role of Regional Protection Adviser.

Tearfund is a Christian relief and development agency working in more than 50 countries, through direct implementation and in partnership with local NGOs and faith-based groups. Tearfund implements a comprehensive Sexual & Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protection and assistance strategy targeting vulnerable populations across multiple countries.

Under the overall direction of the Eurasia and North Africa Director and Tearfund's technical Protection and Gender Unit, the Regional Protection Adviser will represent Tearfund in the region on Protection issues.

The Regional Protection Advisor position is a key member of the Eurasian North Africa Team, based in Amman, Jordan, with extensive travel to Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Afghanistan, and Pakistan and other areas where Tearfund ENA will expand to. The position will also liaise with country safeguarding focal points to ensure the appropriate roll out of safeguarding policies and guidelines.

The Regional Protection Adviser will provide:

  • Both technical and operational leadership and support for Tearfund's protection programmes across the region
  • Strategy and program development on protection issues
  • Quality oversight
  • Staff and partner training and sensitisation
  • Liaison and coordination with other organisations working in protection
  • The successful candidate must be passionate about serving those in need with experience of working cross-culturally and proven experience working in mental health and psycho-social support is preferred.

NB: This is a fixed term contract for 2 years with the possibility of an extension subject to funding. This role will be based in one of the following countries: Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Pakistan. We can only accept applications from candidates who already possess the right to live and work in one of these regions. Salary is dependent on location and will be bench-marked against the local pay market.
