Opportunity
This position will work closely with all members of the team to screen and provide humanitarian assistance to refugee beneficiaries. The caseworker will report to the Humanitarian Assistance Specialist. The caseworker conducts continuous mapping of services available through partner organisations working in Lebanon, and regularly updates the service map based on information gathered from attending working groups, in-person and phone interviews with (potential) clients. In coordination with attorneys, the caseworker assists in screening potential clients to ensure programmatic standards and adherence to IRAP policies and procedures are met. When needed, the caseworker provides support in the case management of client cases and ensures appropriate client service provision as per IRAP standards.
Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining and updating service map for relevant UNHCR and partner hotlines
Assist in maintaining and updating service map for relevant organisations and initiatives
Assist in the management and provision of client emergency cash assistance
Organise and compile information needed in the Humanitarian Referral Process
Assist in case screening, case monitoring, and gathering client information and feedback
Conduct objective in-person and phone interviews with (potential) clients in Arabic, to obtain and input biographical and narrative information in a client service database and write reports in English
Document, analyse, and identify client needs, and suggest service referrals as necessary.
Contribute to improving service provision through participation in office, departmental and organisational working groups, advisory meetings and committees
Ensure quality and complete documentation of service provision in the client service database per internal guidelines
Attend training, capacity-building meetings, and other events relevant to human rights and refugee issues as requested by the Program and Operations Director
Maintain and ensure confidentiality of all IRAP matters to ensure client privacy and program integrity
Perform other duties as necessary
Qualifications
Authorisation to work in Lebanon required
University degree (Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science) in International Affairs, nonprofit management, public administration, or relevant field
Minimum 3 years of related professional work experience preferred
Previous experience with a refugee focused international non-governmental organisation experience preferred
Strong experience with humanitarian referral procedures in Lebanon, not less than three years
Sensitivity to client empowerment and to working with clients of all backgrounds, including LGBTI clients, survivors of trauma, and other vulnerable populations; maintains confidentiality and other applicable ethical rules at all times
Courtesy, tact and ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required; openly shares knowledge with colleagues; public speaking experience preferred
Highly organised and flexible; able to multi-task and manage a high-volume workload; excellent time management skills
Highly motivated with strong interest in humanitarian work
Proficiency with Microsoft and Google suites
