SCOPE OF WORK
The Advocacy and Communications Officer will work for Kafa’s Anti-Trafficking Unit (ATU). The candidate is expected to develop and implement communications and advocacy actions that advance the Unit's mission, objectives, initiatives, and campaigns in relation to its programs on exploitation and trafficking in women namely migrant domestic workers and women victims of sexual exploitation.
The candidate needs to demonstrate a deep interest in issues related to feminism, human trafficking for labor and sexual exploitation, violence against women, and should have a good knowledge and previous experience working on these topics.
Tasks related to Communications:
- Develop and implement a communications strategy in coordination with Kafa’s ATU and Media Units;
- Develop the main messages of media campaigns, identify the best resources and providers to prepare the media and communications materials, and the best platforms to deliver the campaigns’ messages to online and offline audiences;
- Write press releases and ensure media coverage of main actions and positions by Kafa’s ATU;
- Collect testimonies of survivors of trafficking and exploitation and communicate them to the public;
- Document media coverage, and collect research and reports on domestic workers and human trafficking issues at a national and international level;
- Respond to audience’s comments on Kafa’s social media platforms, and represent the ATU in media interviews;
- Conduct awareness raising and training on subjects related to the ATU’s work;
Tasks related to Advocacy:
- Support in laying down and implementing the ATU advocacy strategy;
- Organize meetings with MPs and other decision-makers for lobbying purposes;
- Coordinate the ATU’s advocacy efforts with existing partners and allies and engage new partners;
- Write position papers and policy briefs.
Other Duties:
- Coordinate regularly with the Media Unit at Kafa, and report to the ATU management;
- Support in administrative and logistics tasks when needed.
