Main responsibilities:

 

  • Properly assess and refer people in need of mental health support/treatment to specialized services
  • Provide case-management to people accessing and enrolled in mental health (MH) and substance use (SU) services.
  • Provide appropriate psychosocial support to the persons enrolled in the project.
  • Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team for the implementation of all MH and SU interventions and activities.
  • Provide awareness sessions to the persons in the waiting areas.
  • Organize outreach activities within the surrounding communities
  • Raise awareness to the hospital and PHCs staff about MHPSS.

 

Main responsibilities and activities of the Social Worker can change according to the organization of the work and to the composition of the team.

 

Main activities:

 

Provide case-management in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team

  • Assess the needs people coming to or referred to the CMHC
  • If necessary, refer people in need of mental health support/treatment to specialized services
  • When needed work directly with the therapist to develop individualized intervention plans and the best care plan.
  • Participate to case discussions with the multidisciplinary team, including psychotherapists, case managers, psychiatrists, mental health nurse and the supervisor.
  • Provide proper case-management and regular follow-up for the people enrolled in the project.
  • Provide psychosocial support, including home-visits and psychoeducation to people enrolled in the project.
  • Commit to regular clinical documentation of all individual and other MH/SU activities.
  • Closely work with the technical advisor

 

Participate in mental health and substance use activities

  • Participate in updating the service mapping.
  • Refer people when needed, utilizing the referral form to link with PHC or other organizations
  • Coordinate with PHC, hospital and any other relevant stakeholder
  • Assist in the assessment of mental health and substance use needs and propose interventions in collaboration with the team.
  • Design, organize and implement group support.

 

Awareness raising about mental health and substance use

  • Participate in the preparation and provide awareness sessions about MH and SU for staff at PHCs and hospital
  • Organize and facilitate awareness sessions at the PHC level for the people in the waiting areas
  • When requested, participate to awareness sessions in ITS/shelters/streets to support outreach workers
  • Advocate on all MH and SU related issues and/or concerns through events organized by MDM, Skoun, the other partners.

 

Reporting and meetings

  • Report on mental health and substance use activities and data collection, respecting deadlines
  • Participate in internal meetings and individual meetings.
  • When required participate in external meetings with key actors, NGO’s/INGO’s, and hospital.
  • When required, participate in network/coordination and case discussion meetings concerning mental health and substance use.

Requested Competence/Skills/Profile

 

  • University degree in Social Work required.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in NGO work.
  • Experience working within the field of Mental Health and/or substance use will be valued.
  • Belief in a comprehensive and holistic approach towards positive mental health.
  • Arabic and English languages are mandatory.
  • Excellence in organizing, planning and prioritizing tasks.
  • Ability to identify strengths and weakness and in proposing shared solutions for the continuous improvement of providing quality services.
  • Strong ability to observe, analyse, report and take initiative.
  • Ability to work with a team as well as to work independently.
  • Clear commitment to the project thematic.
  • Ability to communicate any technical or non-technical topic with clarity and to share any important project information with the team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft word and Excel
  • Ability to self-reflect on your work, to recognize what needs improvement and to propose solutions
