1- Summary
The Midwife is expected to support women and their families in reproductive health related matters at the hospital level, educate, raise awareness and undertake personal consultations when needed.
2- Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Act as the supportive entity to the reproductive health (RH) services at the governmental hospital.
- Provide family planning counseling, in addition to counseling on maternal and child health in the delivery ward.
- Educate mothers about the importance of breastfeeding, immunization, and how to take care of their children.
- Compile monthly statistical report on the number of pregnant women provided with FP counseling.
- Prevent contamination through following proper infection control procedures implemented by the governmental hospital.
- Ensure credible patient education on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) to pregnant and lactating women.
- Provide necessary education on family planning to beneficiaries during the period of the spread of the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19).
- Ensure data entry on Vital Data Observatory (VDO) system and ensure that MoPH is receiving the data.
- Abide at all times by the ethics pertaining to the midwifery profession.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
