About ABAAD

ABAAD is a non-profit, non-politically affiliated, non-confessional organization that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable peace, democracy and social and economic development in the MENA region. Purpose

The Guttmacher- Lancet Commission will be partnering with Abaad throughout 2019, with the aim of disseminating the evidence and recommendations of the Guttmacher-Lancet Commission report on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). As part of this work, Abaad will engage with other civil society organizations to analyze how this evidence can support existing advocacy efforts. This partnership will help ensure that the global messages in the report are contextualized appropriately and encourage ownership of the SRHR agenda by country-level stakeholders.

 

Through this consultancy, the recruited consultant is expected to conduct a policy report that will include:

  1. Literature review relating to SRHR programming and policy in Lebanon,
  2. Collect feedback through bilateral meetings with relevant stakeholders that can support the development of programming and policies recommendations, and
  3. Attend the national dissemination workshop and consolidate the findings into an overall final write-up.

This is to produce SRHR recommendations with realistic programmatic and policy priorities to move forward in Lebanon.

The consultant will be expected to fully lead on the policy report as per the below shared duties and responsibilities.

 

Time - Frame: Mid-June till end of November. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

 

The Consultant main responsibilities and duties are:

 

 

  • Meet with ABAAD team for induction meeting and then through multiple progress monitoring meetings
  • Under the umbrella of the desk review, conduct a more specific literature review relating to SRHR programming and policy in Lebanon
  • Collect feedback through bilateral meetings with 5 to 7 relevant stakeholders that can support the development of programming and policies recommendations
  • Attend the national dissemination workshop and collect findings that can shape programming and policies
  • Develop SRHR recommendations with realistic programmatic and policy priorities to move forward in Lebanon
  • Write and submit a final report for all the above tasks

 

Educational Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Studies, or a relevant field
  • Research related diplomas is a plus

 

Skills Requirements

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in SRHR programing and policy work
  • Highly organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Excellent command in English language
  • Excellent verbal communication in Arabic

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and techniques to conduct research and address related problems
  • A strong personal commitment to ABAAD’s principle and CoC (CP and PSEA policies)
