About the job

The Protection (Community Engagement) Team Leader should Coordinate and supervise all Protection (Community Engagement) projects and activities including community support and mobilization activities, and social cohesion projects. Community empowerment in Lebanon refers to communities’ ability to participate in finding solutions to their concerns, to accept the presence of refugees and to coexist non-violently. DRC therefore engages in a combination of capacity building and participatory infrastructure support, for example through the implementation of Community Support Projects.​

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Oversee the implementation and ensure the quality of Protection (Community Engagement) programming in Akkar and Tripoli, following DRC’s quality standards and work plan. 

• Support the development of Protection (Community Engagement) programmes in North Lebanon and input into project proposals.  

• Engage with local partners on the management of projects, oversee their implementation of activities and participate in the capacity building process of these partners 

• Promote protection, community mobilization, social cohesion and participation throughout all phases of all DRC’s activities across North Lebanon. 

• Participate in relevant working groups at area level, for example the Social Stability and Protection working groups, and attend any relevant meetings with other stakeholders related to the Protection (Community Engagement) sectors. 

• Line manage the Protection team (CE) teams in Tripoli and Akkar, supporting them to implement the projects through day-to-day oversight and mentoring, including preparation of weekly action plans to deliver activities as per project proposals and targets. 

• Ensure that the overall partnership process is compliant with DRC accountability principles 

• Provide Monthly feedback regarding the projects progress, implementation, achievements, challenges and mitigation measures. 

• Closely monitor and manage project budgets and update the work plan and budget forecast on a monthly basis, and ensure that expenses have been allocated to the correct budget lines.​

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a minimum of a Bachelors university degree, preferably related to social work, law, psychology, and development. Moreover, we also expect the following:​

Required

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Protection-Community Engagement sector  

• At least 3 years of experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings, specifically in Child Protection case management, PSS and/or CP-GBV sectors 

• At least 1 years of previous Managerial experience: managing a small team from different background 

• Adequate grant management (program and budget) skills  

• NGO sector experience, in particular in humanitarian contexts 

• Proficiency in the use of ‘office systems’ (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)  

• Commitment to and understanding of DRC’s aims, values and principles​

We offer

  • Contract length: until end of December 2019 
  • Level: G1  
  • Monthly Basic Salary: 2700$ (depending on years of experience)  
  • Duty Station: Area, Tripoli and Akkar 
  • Start date: March 2019​
