JOB SUMMARY               

The Accountant in Lebanon Office performs the day-to-day finance operations. He/she assists the Finance department in the maintenance and oversight of the accounting operations to in the main and field office to ensure that all finance operations in Lebanon are performed in accordance with MTI and country office policy and procedures.                                                                                                                                         

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                                                   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:                      

  • Verify completeness and accuracy of all accounting documents.
  • Assists the Manager to prepare budget based on planned project activities using the approved finance guidelines.
  • Establishes controls using fund codes in line with finance policies and procedures established by MTI.
  • Prepares any budget realignments/adjustments in collaboration with Finance Manager.
  • Monitors projects expenditures and flag any issue of concern to the Finance Manager and engage them to address these issues.
  • Assists Country Manager to prepare and monitor budget.
  • Prepares monthly finance reports for the project.
  • Prepares clear reports and submit to the accounting manager for review and approvals at HQ.
  • Completes and submit finance reports in advance to allow adequate time to discuss, edit and make necessary modifications before final submission.
  • Tracks in detail all commitments, purchases and outstanding items and prepare status reports
  • Analyses financial situation of project and advises Country Manager and In-charges accordingly.
  • Records  on a timely basis all financial transactions relating to Westnile region and monitor them to ensure  that they are accurate, complete and reliable
  • Works with the CM to consolidate monthly cash projections of the project.
  • Make sure that on a monthly basis balance sheet reconciliation are completed on a timely manner and those final reconciliations and trial balances are reviewed.
  • Ensure internal control procedures are followed for all cash disbursement, exchanges, receipts and transfers.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Accounting & Finance, Economics.
  • 2-3 years work experience in accounting.
  • Experience with International NGOs is added advantage. ILLS & ABILI             

KNOWLEDGE:

    • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Ability to work in diverse assignment and respond to tight deadlines and changing priorities.
    • Ability to place attention to details and putting donor interest at forefront in programme implementation.
    • Good communication and strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with all departments within the organization.
    • Strong administrative skills in managing documentations and project funding information.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel, & financial management software programs
    • Ability to support Medical Teams International Calling.
    • Ability to communicate effectively & professional both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.
    • Flexible, e.g., ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Detail oriented, e.g., ability to maintain accurate records
