Job Profile
The Syrian Disability Representation project aims at supporting civil society organization movements that are tackling issues related to Syrian refugees with disabilities. The project is funded by the European Union up until the end of 2016 where it will be supporting Syrian refugee groups in understanding their right as a fundamental step, and in demanding the fulfillment of these rights as a basis for integration. The project will also be pushing for the right of persons with disabilities, whether men, women or children; and activating the role of institutions and disability organizations in responding to these rights by providing the best services possible.
 
The project aims at:

A clear understanding of situations, needs, and opportunities and their impact on the development of Disability organizations, CSOs, and the Syrian nonofficial groups supporting the Syrian refugees with disabilities and people wounded during the war. This will be done through surveying and analyzing all parties involved with persons with disabilities and target groups.
Enabling individuals (leadership training), disability organizations, CSOs and nonofficial groups to best represent and support persons with disabilities and the war-wounded, through developing their networks, technical skills and organizational capabilities.
Capacity building of disability organizations, CSOs, and unofficial groups in managing and redistribution of information concerned with services provided for persons with disabilities and the war-wounded, and enabling them to reintegrate actively with service providing organizations.
Supporting disability organizations, CSOs, and unofficial groups in executing initiatives that support both genders in their local communities to promote the rights and needs of persons with disabilities and the war-wounded among refuges from Syria, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon.

 
Field officer terms and conditions:

The field officer for the ANND project is directly supervised by the project coordinator and his/her work is directly linked to the main project manager at Handicap International.
This vacancy is considered ‘field work’ where the officer will be working directly with CSOs and registered and unregistered Syrian development partners that the project supports.
The officer should agree on working out of the office on a regular basis, providing constant field support for CSOs and disability organizations that the project supports.

Field officer responsibilities:

Providing the main link with supported Syrian individuals and organizations within the project.
Direct coordination and support for Syrian individuals and CSOs in executing relevant activities including monitoring activities and constant support for capacity building.
Issuing regular written and oral progress reports for the project coordinator as well as the main project manager at Handicap International.

 
Project responsibilities include:
Under the supervision of ANND project Coordinator:

Executing project activities in Lebanon in accordance with the allocated budget and standard operating procedures at Handicap International, and coordinating with registered and unregistered Syrian organizations supported by the project In order to build their capacity throughout its duration, in line with the expected results of the project.
Field support of main activities in Lebanon including:

Issuing a detailed list of stakeholders from Syrian CSOs in close coordination with Handicap International
Participating in establishing Information Management tools including a database and social media platforms to connect partners with target groups.
Training and directing activists in the field of working with persons with disabilities
Supporting the establishing and development of disability organizations/CSOs.
Supporting the establishment of peer support groups
Supporting Disability organizations\CSOs in providing information\Referral services for persons with disabilities and war-wounded.
Close follow up of executing a procedure for providing small grants
Supporting coordination and networking process between disability organizations and key stakeholders

Regional activities support within the project framework (Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan)
Key regional activities include: Training programs, workshops, and regional Network visits with the project partners and stakeholders.
Other related tasks when necessary.

 
Qualifications:
-      College certificate in Social Sciences (or Social Services)
-      Understanding of advocacy concepts and execution methods.
-      An Understanding of refugee situations and the challenges facing them.
-      An Understanding of Refugee Crisis Response Mechanisms
-      A minimum of 2 years field experience.
-      Working Proficiency in Arabic and English.
