Micro Credit Program
In 1998, the micro-credit program was launched to provide individual loans to Lebanese micro-entrepreneurs who wish to start-up a business activity or to develop existing activities. This program helps them to buy equipment, raw materials or improve their business. They are traders, owners of small shops, artisans, beauty specialists, cab drivers and tailors. Loans are used to improve their production and consequently increase their income and improve their economic status.
Overall Objectives:
The importance of micro-credit as a beneficial tool for community development is the driving force behind the Makhzoumi Foundation/Micro-Credit program. Microfinance worldwide has proved to be a powerful instrument for poverty reduction that enables low-income individuals to build assets, increase income and reduce their vulnerability to economic stress.
