Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI's teams - 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers - work with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

Goal / Purpose:
The Protection & Community Engagement Field Officer (P&CE FO) will implement Protection mainstreaming and Community Engagement within SI consortia activities. Under the coordination and guidance of Protection & Community Engagement Supervisor (P&CE TL) he/she will practically ensure the necessary harmonization between Protection and Shelter consortial activities; while mobilizing and sensitizing communities around SI interventions.

Evaluation / diagnostic:
- Collect accurate data at community level and conduct different assessment and surveys
Implementation and operational monitoring
- Under supervision of P&CE Supervisor, coordinate with partners’ Protection field staff to ensure that necessary links to SI Shelter
- Enact necessary actions to ensure Protection mainstreaming within SI activities
- Within the communication network setup by P&CE Supervisor, ensure the regular flow of information among consortium partners, conducive to an efficient referral, monitoring and follow up
- The two points above include, but are not limited to:
- Organize regular meetings with consortium partners field teams
- Train SI Shelter staff on tools and procedures conducive to Protection mainstreaming and project objectives
- Put in action a two‑ways referral system
- Carry out actions conducive to a positive and effective engagement of targeted communities
- Ensure the regular flow of information among SI, targeted communities and other relevant stakeholders, conducive to an efficient referral, monitoring and follow up
- The two points above include, but are not limited to:
- Organize regular meetings with consortium communities key stakeholders
- Train community key stakeholders on topics to Protection mainstreaming and project objectives
- Foster the creation and startup of community‑based bodies conducive to Protection mainstreaming and project
- Following up on committees and ensure training (internal or external), support and follow-up of the committees objectives
- If requested by P&CE TL support the Shelter team in providing the cash assistance for beneficiaries.
- If requested by P&CE TL support the Shelter team in provide emergency assistance (through distribution of emergency kits)
Reporting
- Keep his/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarités office, accessible to P&CE supervisor
- Report to P&CE supervisor regarding the development of activities and specific tasks that he/she has been assigned, any problems encountered and the quality of relations with the beneficiaries
- Share with the P&CE supervisor and the security focal point all relevant information about security, activities, logistics or administrative issues occurred at field level, using Solidarités International’s tools and procedures
- Maintain an accurate reporting, data management of the activities, incidents, achievements, referrals, information, etc. and report monitoring results.
Communication / representation / coordination
- Give information to the beneficiaries about SI mandate, activities, results and about external actors and represent SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL when necessary
- Facilitate, build up and maintain good relationships with the beneficiaries.
- Participate in the mitigation of problems between communities when they arise
- Communicate with other SI activities and departments for the daily activities
The P&CE Officer may be asked to drive SI cars and respecting the driving policies set by the logistic department.

A salaried post : 1325 USD as basic salary + COLA + transport + phone allowance
