Background:   

MOSAIC is a holistic and interdisciplinary program committed to improving the health and wellbeing of disempowered communities in Lebanon and the MENA/SWANA region overall. Through its national presence and its regional and international networks, MOSAIC's strategic goal is to achieve the coexistence of people in friendly communities and national systems. Founded by activists and legal and health experts, MOSAIC provides specialized and sensitive mental health services (drama and art therapy included), psychosocial support, capacity development and awareness sessions for LGBTIQ+ individuals in addition to protection services including case management and legal services ranging from consultations to representation if necessary.

Scope of Work:

The scope of work for a communications officer typically encompasses a range of responsibilities aimed at effectively and efficiently communicating the organization's mission, vision, values as well as activities and impact to various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Communications Officer will be responsible of the following:

  • Conducting field visits as needed to support MOSAIC's communications;
  • Developing and disseminating public relations materials that increase MOSAIC visibility among stakeholders;
  • Sharing regular content updates based on program developments (announcements, article links, stories, visuals, news and events) and the organization's mandate;
  • Identifying target audiences and creating strategies to effectively engage them
  • Supporting and developing a comprehensive database of external communication contractors (artists, designers, film makers, writers, photographers etc.);
  • Developing and implementing communications and media activities for the project:
    • Creating ideas and content for Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, depending on the activities and needs of the project,
    • Following-up on the production and design of the materials,
    • Looking for and establishing liaisons with external media contractors and artists depending on the project's needs (designers, photographers, etc.),
  • Writing/editing content for all communication channels (press releases, news, stories, project updates, success stories, preliminary scripts, etc.);
  • Supporting and developing a database of journalists from local and international media institutions, and other key media players;
  • Supporting the coordination with the press and key media players on a regular basis;
  • Reporting activities and field visits on a regular basis to the program manager and MOSAIC director.

 

Qualifications and Experience

1. At least a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or other related fiels  

2. At least 4 years of experience in communications and media.

 

Skills include: 

- Full proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic is mandaory. French is a plus.

- Knowledge of digital marketing tactics

- Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively

- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications.

While working on a MOSAIC project, it is mandatory to sign MOSAIC’s code of conduct and all updated policies.
