Wellness Activities Consultant – North and Beqaa Areas

Background

The Women’s Programs Association (WPA) is a non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO), legally registered with the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities since 2008. Its mission is to provide support to Palestinian refugee women and youth and other vulnerable groups in Lebanon to develop their capacities, realize their rights, and fulfill their needs Protection, Education, and Livelihood.

WPA is working in eight different camps throughout Lebanon, from the South to the North and Beqaa.

WPA announces the need to contract a consultant to deliver “Recreational Activities” at Beddawi and Wavel camps for its project entitled “Provision of Protection and Health Services to 720 Elderly Palestinian Refugees in Nahr El-Bared, Beddawi, and Wavel camps”. The aim is to improve the wellbeing and reduce the protection risks of marginalized elderly Palestinian refugees, aged 65 and above, and residing in Beddawi, Nahr El-Bared, and Wavel Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.

 This project is implemented in partnership with Taawon from 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Design wellness activities appropriate for Palestinian refugee elderly aged 65 years and over.
  • Collaborate with the community workers to identify the participants in the activities with a focus on the most marginalized ones  
  • Assess the preferences of the elderly for the type of activities to be conducted
  • Provide a proposal for each activity and a report afterward
  • The consultant will be expected to deliver 30 sessions for 300  elderly in Beddawi Camp, and 10 sessions for 100 elderly in Wavel Camp, with 30 elderly per session.

Academic Qualifications

  • BA in Arts, Psychology, Recreation Therapy or its equivalent
  • Any additional certifications or training related to wellness programs for elderly

Experience Qualifications

  • Two years experience in planning, organizing, and leading wellness activities or programs for elderly individuals
  • Experience working with elderly individuals, especially those from refugee or vulnerable populations
  • Knowledge and understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by the elderly
  • Familiarity with various wellness activities suitable for elderly individuals, such as exercise programs, arts and crafts, music therapy, mindfulness activities, social events, etc.
  • Ability to adapt activities to meet the specific cultural and linguistic needs of the elderly refugees

    Fees

    The consultant will be remunerated 100$ per session (number of sessions mentioned at Responsibilities section above)
