ABOUT THE PROJECT

Generation Gender is a five-year program that aims at positively influencing public opinion, laws and policies towards gender justice, as well as strengthening civil society to advocate for gender justice all the while combatting GBV and inequality. More specifically, the program at hand relies on an innovative and inclusive gender-transformative strategy that equips youth leaders and civil society organizations (CSOs) to address the root causes of gender inequality and foster sustainable change. Its goal is to raise public support, advocate for improved policies and laws, and strengthen civil society.

OVERALL GOAL OF THIS ASSIGNMENT

The consultant will be required to develop and deliver a training of trainers to a selected group of young men and women from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. This workshop will enable participants to acquire the fundamental notions of brainstorming and ideation. By undergoing this capacity building activity, participants will then be equipped to support and guide other young change-makers in the process of creating and designing different grassroots community-based initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and develop a training curriculum in Arabic on ideation and brainstorming in collaboration with ABAAD;

• Ensure the learning materials are accessible and rooted in a participatory active learning approach that incorporates discussions, case studies, demonstration sessions and group activities;

• Carry out 3-4 full day training sessions that will result in the following learning outcomes:
  • Participants are familiarized with the fundamentals of design thinking and other idea-generating tools in a simple and accessible manner;
  • Participants are capable of introducing creative thinking and effective problem solving to their peers;
  • Participants are capable of preparing brainstorming activities to stimulate new ideas;
  • Participants are equipped to identify viable ideas, support their peers in optimizing them, and addressing an ideation gaps through tools such as the “SMART” goal metric;
  • Participants are able to guide their peers, support them in refining their initiatives’ concept, and efficiently frame the scope of the ideas presented to ensure they align with the program’s strategy and goal.

• Submit a final report detailing achievements, challenges, lessons learnt and main takeaways along with any notable success stories;

SKILLS REQUIRED

• Applicant is required to have a BA or MA in social sciences, project management or other related fields;
• Applicant is required to have experience in delivering trainings on ideation and brainstorming;
• Applicant must have experience working in the humanitarian field –particularly engaging with local communities (experience working with youth is desirable);
• Applicant must have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the local context in Lebanon;
• Applicant must possess excellent communication skills in Arabic;
• Applicant must have experience working in culturally sensitive contexts.
