PSS FACILITATOR

JOB OVERVIEw

SHiFT-Social innovation hub is implementing a project on protection mainstreaming for most vulnerable children in Tripoli, in partnership with UNICEF Lebanon-child protection sector. Activities will take place in 4 community centers in the areas of Jabal Mehsen, Tebbaneh, Mankoubine and Kobbeh but will target children and their caregivers from designated areas and surroudings including Amerken, Bekkar, Riva and Mashrou3 el hariri, wadi el nahle, jabal el beddawi… This intervention aims at supporting hard to reach children (including category of invisibles especially women, adolescent girls, and disabled.)  to get back on track, sensitize them on their rights and link them with available services upon their needs to prevent them from getting involved in grave violations. This program is put together following community-based approach according to IASC minimum standards and DO NO HARM principle, all based on a survivor centered approach. This intervention will tackle various perspectives from the children’s daily lives through a set of interactive activities, including but not limited to environmental sensitization, sports for development, community theater, community-based PSS… and more. Activities will be designed in accordance with QUDWA strategy. SHiFT is currently seeking the expertise of PSS facilitators to conduct community based psychosocial support interventions with children and their caregivers, support in the implementation of activities with QUDWA strategy based on a good flow of activities in the community centers and ensure a child friendly environment.

PSS facilitators will work in close coordination with Project Coordinator and Outreach Officer. Staff is expected to establish a good rapport with children and conduct referrals to other actors based on need and following receipt of consent.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Conduct psychosocial support session with children and care givers tailored according to their needs.
• Ensures proper/smooth implementation of program activities.
• Supports SHiFT staff and more specifically CP team in carrying out regular activities
• Keeps the archive of children’s’ forms containing all the information regarding children’s’ placement and follow up tests, media consent, participation form, and other information related to the project activities.
• Conduct pre post test and evaluation forms
• Ensures adherence to SHiFT rules and regulations with special attention to PSEA and child safeguarding measures.
• Participate in situational analysis for their respective areas and report any incidents at field level
• Participate in weekly meetings and other coordination meetings if needed.
• Monitor outreach criteria and inclusion activities.
• Observe body language, track absenteeism and Conduct community-based referrals as needed (be the voice of the communities they represent in the coordination meetings).
• Refer children in need of further support to internal referral focal point for her actions.
• Takes initiatives to respond quickly to unexpected challenges in the field and inform management team immediately.
• Formulates monthly reports on implementation process, challenges, best practices, and lessons learnt.

Minimum required knowledge & experience:

• At least 2 years of relevant experience
• INGO or NGO experience is a must.
• Preferably previous experience working with children/refuges/vulnerable populations
• Previous experience in Education, PSS or Child Protection projects
• Maintain positive and professional attitude
• Strong communication skills.
• Computer literate.
• Fluency in Arabic required. Basic ability to communicate in English
• Efficiency, integrity and flexibility required at all times
• Critical thinking and analysis competencies
• Create and maintain a strong filing System
• Efficient, transparent and professional.
• Knowledge about PSEA and Child safeguarding.
• Familiar with the feedback and complaint mechanism.

Preferred

• Ability to adapt and be capable to deal with difficult security conditions.
• Fluent in Arabic and good writing skills in English.
• Capacity to work in small teams and flexibility to take on new tasks.
• Cultural sensitivity.
• Basic ability to communicate in English is an added value.
