Objective of the Role:
The Communications and Media Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, managing media relations, and creating compelling content across various platforms. This position requires a creative and strategic communicator with a passion for storytelling and the ability to engage diverse audiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communication strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
- Create compelling content for various platforms, including press releases, articles, blog posts, and social media.
- Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure a consistent flow of information.
Social Media Management:
- Manage content for social media platforms to enhance engagement.
- Monitor social media trends and implement strategies to increase the organization's online presence.
- Respond to comments, messages, and mentions on social media channels.
- Update and maintain the organization's website with current and relevant content.
- Ensure the website reflects the organization's branding and messaging.
- Coordinate the promotion of organizational events through various communication channels.
- Capture and share event highlights through photos and live updates.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor media coverage and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies.
- Prepare regular reports on communication activities and their impact.
Competencies and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Proven experience in communications and media relations, preferably within the nonprofit or NGO sector.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in social media management and content creation.
- Familiarity with website content management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
