External Consultant for Gender Assessment in Syria

Danmission MENA office is looking to hire an external consultant to conduct a gender assessment in Syria

Motivation and Background the  Consultancy on Gender in Syria: Danmission believes that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights” and that “everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms (…) without distinction of any kind” Danmission feels a particular responsibility to work for enhancing gender equality, inclusion and empowerment of girls and women to claim and access their rights. Danmission believes that the quality of its work depends on its ability to base partnerships and interventions on thorough and contextually grounded gender analyses. Danmission has a fundamental belief that the promotion of women’s and men’s rights is equally important and believes in the necessity of and potentials in women and men working together to promote the common good. A gender assessment in Syria will determine how gender issues, gender roles, gender perception, women’s rights, men’s rights, boys’ and girls’ rights as well as other individuals’ and groups’ rights should be addressed and considered. The gender analysis will identify where Danmission and its partners within its thematic areas will have the most effective transformative gender impact. Danmission works with a Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) and in line with the principal of Leaving No One Behind (LNOB) and UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 on Gender Equality. Therefore, Danmission expects the gender assessment in Syria to adhere to the HRBA and the principle of LNOB and SDG 5 targets.
