Skoun Lebanese Addictions Center - Jobs

Skoun will be holding two trainings and is seeking to hire a trainer or facilitator to lead them. The first is designed for 20 participants including Skoun Outreach volunteers, as well as other mental health and gender background staff from different NGOs. The second will be for 20 people from diverse NGOs and backgrounds. Each training will last for four to five days and cover topics such as substance use, harm reduction, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, HIV/AIDS and other STIs, and voluntary counseling and testing practices.

Skoun Lebanese Addictions Center, NGO founded in 2003 provide accessible treatment, education and protection for people who use drugs.
Skoun strives to ensure drug use and addiction are treated as a primary health issue.

A consortium of four organizations, MdM, Skoun, Abaad, Embrace and the National Mental Health Program (NMHP), supported by the Agence Francaise de Development (AFD), aims to improve the opportunities for women, men, boys, girls and gender non-compliant individuals in Lebanon, to enjoy the best possible mental health and wellbeing.
The consortium aims to reach its objective through supporting community-based Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) and Substance Uses (SU) system offering appropriate, quality, and gender-inclusive services to all people living in Lebanon.

The incumbent will provide psychiatric care to patients with Substance Use and/or Mental Health disorders

Additionally, the Psychiatrist will participate and co-lead the case discussion in the Community Mental Health and Substance Use Center operated in partnership with Medecins du Monde.

Skoun seeks to have on board an outreach volunteer to help implement different outreach interventions related to communicating material regarding safe use, substance use, overdose prevention and perform voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) for HIV, and other sexually transmitted infections.
Skoun will be providing the capacity building required for every intervention.

The incumbent is responsible of performing medical tests, assessments and follow up for the Substances Use and Mental Health patients
Job summary:
• Conduct the medical assessment for patients
• Administer urine tests “for SU patients”
• Administer injection, when required.
• Follow up medication reconciliation, lab tests and medication stock
• Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team
• Participate in the awareness sessions and support groups whenever in needed on his/her field of expertise.
• Participate in the capacity building of the PHCC medical staff, whenever is needed.

The incumbent is responsible of counseling and therapy provision to service-users seeking support for mental health and substance use problems.
Support in the integration of Mental Health intro primary health care centers and contribute to conducting assessments within the framework of the project “Improving mental health and well-being of people living in Lebanon”, phase II

The incumbent is responsible for the overall implementation of the project “Improving Mental Health and Well-Being of People Living in Lebanon”, phase II. Where a consortium of 4 organizations, Médecins du Monde (MdM), Skoun, Abaad and Embrace, supported by the Agence Francaise de Development (AFD) aims to improve the opportunities to enjoy the best possible mental health and wellbeing by offering appropriate services to the people living in Lebanon, particularly the most vulnerable groups and people at risk.

In April 2020, the Lebanese parliament passed a law legalizing the cultivation of Cannabis. While the law regulates the production and selling of cannabis for medicinal purposes to a governmental entity in charge of overseeing the market, the law overlooks and fails to regulate access to medicinal cannabis.
In light of the many uses of medicinal cannabis, Skoun is currently working on a project to advocate for the law’s implementation decrees to ensure the right to treatment and the right to access healthcare services and medication to the local population.

Skoun’s work on drug policy reform aims to promote and protect the right to health of people who use drugs in Lebanon, pushing the discourse and perception of drug use from the criminal to the public health realm. Our human rights centered approach focuses on the right to access treatment services, legal protection, right to information and education about drugs and legal literacy.
