Key Responsibilities:

Planning and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with outreach teams to identify and assess children for psychosocial support (PSS) activities at various locations, including streets and Drop-In Centers.
  • Evaluate and prioritize the needs of targeted children, ensuring they are enrolled in appropriate PSS activities.
  • Develop and lead PSS activities, encouraging full participation and creating a child-friendly environment.
  • Plan and execute interventions based on a group intervention approach, adjusting activities based on feedback from children and coordinators.
  • Manage challenging behaviors with empathy and effective communication, ensuring a safe environment.
  • Document feedback, track progress, and prepare regular reports for the project manager.
  • Keep parents informed about their child's progress and activities, and promote awareness of accountability mechanisms.
  • Establish and support community-based child protection committees and ensure adherence to child safeguarding and protection guidelines.
  • Prepare materials for activities, manage inventory, and ensure proper storage and safety of materials.
  • Represent LOST in relevant training sessions, field visits, and advocacy campaigns related to child protection and PSS.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Maintain close coordination with caseworkers and technical teams to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, partners, and municipalities to share updates and advocate for PSS-related issues.
  • Participate in donor visits, preparing necessary documentation and ensuring successful execution.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues, children, youth, and caregivers, promoting a collaborative environment.

Organizational Policies:

  • Adhere to LOST’s Code of Conduct, Child Safeguarding Policy, PSEA Policy, and Policy on Gender and Diversity.
  • Follow LOST’s internal regulations, standard operating procedures, and ensure the "Do No Harm" principle is upheld.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly coordination meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Mobilize adolescents and caregivers to participate in psychosocial activities, including emotional support groups, skills-building, non-formal education, and recreational activities.
  • Deliver life skills and parenting skills activities based on LOST’s curricula and modules.
  • Coach volunteers in delivering life skills and parenting activities.
  • Refer youth needing additional individual services to the case management team.
  • Collaborate with child protection caseworkers to address gender-based violence (GBV) and child protection issues with appropriate communication techniques.
  • Collect and analyze data on organized activities, ensuring all forms are completed and shared.
  • Report concerns or incidents to management and liaise with community leaders to enhance the security environment for LOST’s programs.
  • Ensure activities comply with LOST’s logistics policies and are executed in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or Specialized Education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children, particularly high-risk or vulnerable populations.
  • Knowledge in Child Protection and strong facilitation skills.
  • Motivated team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and active listening abilities.

NB : LOST has a zero tolerance to sexual Exploitation and Abuse of beneficiaries. Protection from sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the code of conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (Both during work hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the code of conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause .
