Action against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women, and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation. 

In Lebanon, the Syrian crisis continues to generate political, social, and economic pressure due to the war in Lebanon and keeps more than 1.5 million refugees in a situation of increasing vulnerability. In this environment of political, economic and social uncertainty, our teams have maintained their high levels of humanitarian response and aid to Lebanon. Likewise, our interventions have been maintained in the Bekaa and northern areas, as well as in the south of the country, with a special focus on working in partnership or in consortium with other organizations and on institutional strengthening of the relationship with both donors. institutional, such as with local authorities and entities

 

 

Implement the daily field activities under the supervision of the PHP Supervisor to deliver objectives and tasks on-time and to high quality, being able to propose innovative and pertinent ideas to the challenges encountered.

 

Participate in public health promotion campaigns with community mobilisation, conduct house to house monitoring of hygiene promotion, prepare public health promotion plans, prepare written material for the field with adapted messages and channel for the target audience. 

 

Support in all other wash activities implemented by ACF.

 

 

 

Objective 1: Community Engagement (40%)

Develop and implement strategies to engage and mobilize community members in program activities.

Work closely with community leaders, stakeholders, and other partners to identify needs, challenges, and opportunities for community involvement.

3

Coordinate and lead community meetings, focus groups, and other participatory activities to gather input and feedback from beneficiaries.

4

Establishment of WaSH Committees including Youth Committee, Women Committee and Children Committee.

5

Participate in the selection and training of focal points for livelihood activities.

6

Participate in hygiene campaign world days, doing shows in informal tents, schools and at community level.

Objective 2: Follow up with Community Mobilizers, and WASH committees (30%)

Participate in the selection of community mobilizers and WASH Committees

2

Mentoring and training of community mobilizers and WASH committees on community engagement approach.

3

Follow up meetings with community mobilizers making sure community engagement is being successfully implemented.

Objective 3: Participate in WASH response to Health Referrals (20 %)

Take part in household assessments to determine the underlying causes for health referrals.

Contribute to conducting awareness sessions as specified in the health referral, focusing on educating community members about key health issues and preventive measures.

Actively participate in the distribution of hygiene kits, ensuring that the supplies reach the intended beneficiaries and supporting their efforts to maintain proper hygiene and safeguard their health.

Objective 4: Assessment and Reporting (10 %)

Conduct household assessment

Track and document community engagement activities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to the supervisor

Prepare regular reports on community engagement outcomes, challenges, and recommendations

Objective 5: Security

1

Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan, see to it that the team under his/her responsibility complies with the security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols.

Communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or noncompliance with the security plan

Objective 6: Support humanitarian activities of Action Against Hunger

Support the emergency interventions of the organization as per the employee’s abilities.

Support any activity that helps reaching our humanitarian goals, as per the employee’s abilities.

Promote gender equality within the humanitarian and/or development work

Objective 7:  Gender & Safeguarding

  

 

 

 

Promote safe and equitable environments, through knowledge and application of the protocol against harassment and gender policy.

Qualificatiosn:

  • Strong communication skills, used to speak in public and work dynamically with adults and children.
  • Experience in hygiene promotion and/or public health promotion. Knowledge of direct community work with vulnerable or at risk communities. Experience animating sessions with children, youth and adults with a participative methodology. Experience in community mobilization and participation. Experience in Social behavioral change
  • Ability to work in a team Ability to manage stress effectively Ability to manage time and priorities well Clear communicator with excellent inter-personal skills Ability to work with a degree of autonomy on set tasks
  • Experience in the humanitarian sector in a similar position, collaboration with other partners, NGOs.
