PURPOSE

To provide assessment, treatment and consultancy to patients and their families of Cedar Rehab.
To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality clinical psychology service to Patients of Cedar Rehab.

Skills
The incumbent must demonstrate the following skills:

strategic planning skills analytical and problem solving skills if required.
Demonstrate good decision making in dealing with safety issues and with aggressive and/or intoxicated clients, if required
-mediation and negotiations skills

-effective counseling skills
-effective verbal and listening communications skills
-computer skills including the ability to operate spreadsheets and word processing  programs at a highly proficient level
-effective written communications skills including the ability to prepare reports and policies
-stress management skills
-time management skills
-be able to manage his/her own case files on an independent basis
-be able to work cooperatively as a part of a team.

Knowledge

The candidate must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

-Knowledge of: clinical psychology, developmental psychology, personality development; principles and application of psychotherapeutic methods including but not limited to applied behavior analysis, cognitive and group dynamics; administration and interpretation of diagnostic psychological tests; research design; statistics; and measurement theory.
-the causes and effects of drugs and alcohol, and addictions on individuals, families and communities
-needs and risk assessment
-substance abuse
-family dynamics
-the impact of trauma
-have an understanding of crisis management and the ability to deal with life threatening situations including the prevention of suicide
-Case management and confidential record keeping practices
-Generally accepted individual, group and crisis counseling methods.
-The requirements of treatment programs available to  residents
-all relevant legislation, policies and practices
-Program management and delivery program evaluation.

Duties Functions and Responsibilities:

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside doctors, nurses, social workers, education professionals, health visitors, psychiatrists and occupational therapists.
Devising and monitoring appropriate programs of treatment, including therapy (individual, group, family), counseling or psycho-education workshops, in collaboration with colleagues.
Assessing a client's needs, abilities or behavior using a variety of methods, interviews and direct observation of behavior.
Carrying out assessments of applicants for residential care.
Attending clinical meetings and contributing to the clinical decision making process.
Delivering therapy and treatments for difficulties relating to mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, and “addiction”, social and interpersonal problems and challenging behavior.
Contributing to the Development and evaluation of the service provision.
Providing consultation to other professions, encouraging a psychological approach in their work.
Carrying out applied research, adding to the evidence base of practice in a variety of inpatient healthcare settings.
Identify psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues, and diagnose disorders, using information obtained from interviews, tests, records, and individual and group therapies.
Maintain an interest in personal and professional self-development
Taking part in professional appraisal on a regular basis
Maintain a professional attitude throughout inclusive of a pledge of confidentiality towards any activity carried out within the clinical setting.
Writing notes and keeping clinical records updated as per accepted professional standards
Abide by the job plan to be agreed with the clinical director & General Manager, who will act as a line manager and to whom you will be accountable professionally and clinically.  The job plan is subject to modification at the request of either parties and in the interest of service provision at the center.

Qualifications:

Hold a Mastes degree in Psychology from a reputed University.

Minimum 2 to 3 years of professional experience as a Clinical Psychologist/Addiction Counselor.
Strong communication and report writing skills,
Experience in group therapy
Relevant experience/training in the mental health and alcohol and drug field a Plus.
Be bilingual (Arabic/English). French is an asset
