SKOUN is a Lebanese non-profit, non-governmental organization and one of the first outpatient facilities that provides accessible treatment, education, and protection for all people who use drugs while maintaining its values regarding inclusion, accessibility, integrity, and dignity.

For 20 years, SKOUN has been caring for the most vulnerable populations in Lebanon and strives to ensure drug use and addiction are treated as primary health issues.

SKOUN aims to support the development of community-based substance use and mental health system in line with the National Mental Health Strategy and model of care, tackling gender barriers in service access and gender biases in service provision through offering quality and gender-sensitive services to women, men, boys, girls and non-gender conforming individuals living in Lebanon, particularly the most vulnerable groups and people at risk.

SUMMARY

The Youth Protection Coordinator (YPC) is a professional responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating programs aimed at preventing Substance Use (SU) and Mental health (MH) issues among youth. In addition to Collaborating with Skoun management and stakeholders to develop comprehensive youth protection policies and procedures in accordance with legal regulations and best practices.

The YPC Organizes and conducts training sessions and workshops for NGO staff, volunteers, and other participants to raise awareness on SU and MH.

SCOPE OF WORK

  1.  Design and develop and implement prevention programs tailored to address specific topics such as Substance Use (SU) and Mental Health (MH) problems, in addition to disease transmission due to Substance use and/or misuse.
  2. Conduct needs assessments and research to identify target populations and areas of focus.
  3. Collaborate with community partners, stakeholders, and experts to ensure program effectiveness and relevance.
  4. Assist and/ or Recruit and Train volunteers or staff members to assist in program delivery and establish partnerships with schools, community organizations and government agencies to maximize program reach and impact.
  5. Develop educational materials, presentations, and resources to raise awareness and promote healthy behaviors.
  6. Collaborate with the outreach team to engage the community and disseminate information about prevention initiatives.
  7. Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and events to educate target populations on risk factors and prevention strategies.
  8. Collaborate with MEAL focal point to Establish evaluation criteria and metrics to assess the effectiveness of prevention programs.
  9. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to Internal meetings done by Skoun, stakeholders and funders.
  10. Collaborate with local agencies, coalitions, and task forces to coordinate resources and support collective prevention efforts.
  11. Represent Skoun at meetings, conferences, relevant working groups and events to promote awareness and build partnerships.
  12. Coordinate with Skoun Social media team the prevention posts related
  13. Liaise with schools and the Ministry of Education for the implementation of drug prevention programs.
  14. Coordinate and work closely with the Programs and Partnership coordinator on potential sponsorships and/or fundraising opportunities for the Prevention department activities

Qualifications

  • University degree in Psychology, Social work, Public Health or any related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the education sector or in giving training, is of added value
  • A minimum of 3-5 years working with NGOs / CSOs
  • Background in substance use and harm reduction, is of added value
  • Ability to implement awareness sessions in an engaging and inclusive manner
  • Experience in facilitating and coordinating training
  • Knowledge of classroom management and/or life skills implementation, is a plus
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Ability to work in team settings
  • Good Time Management
  • Ability to adapt to the work environment when working with beneficiaries from different backgrounds without prejudice or judgment.
