About ABAAD
ABAAD– Resource Center for Gender Equality is a UN ECOSOC accredited organization that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region.
ABAAD advocates for the development and implementation of policies and laws that enhance women’s effective participation, through a rights-based approach that would bring about tangible change to gender justice.
With the purpose of ending gender-based violence, ABAAD adopts a holistic care approach to provide protection and support services to GBV survivors/right holders during times of peace, war and disasters since 2011.
About the project
“Strengthening Civil Courage” (SCC) is a project led by a four-member consortium funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is comprised of organizations which focus on the promotion and advancement of human rights. These include Netherlands-based PAX and Amnesty International, ABAAD as well as Defend Defenders which operates in the African East and Horn sub-regions. SCC’s primary aim is to integrate civilians in peacemaking and peacekeeping processes and support them in countering human rights violations and gender integration
Overall goal of this assignment
The overall goal of this assignment is to update the network’s strategy for Lebanon’s Men engage Network. His/her general responsibilities include desk review, consultation with ABAAD team and Men engage network members and steering committee; validate and submit the updated strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Desk review of relevant documents provided by ABAAD and through literature review
- Inception meeting with ABAAD’s coordinator of Men Engage Lebanon network
- Organize series of consultation meetings (individual/group) with the steering committee of Men Engage Lebanon network and its members.
- Collect relevant document(s) from the local Men Engage network and from the global alliance
- Submission of the final version of the strategy 2024
- Ensuring that all information and references are up-to-date and take into consideration all backlash messages during this critical period in Lebanon

Skills required
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; team player.
- Proficiency in Arabic and English; French is a plus
- Understanding of issues related to ABAAD’s strategic areas of focus (gender equality, GBV, case management, mainstreaming, women empowerment, etc.)
- Excellent understanding and knowledge about women’s rights, gender and masculinities issues, and engaging boys and men.
- Proven track record in strategy development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to motivate, influence and negotiate both internally and externally.
- Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, and values of ABAAD mainly related to gender issues.
