Program Manager
- A minimum of 5 years of NGO work experience preferably in a managerial role.
- Excellent communication and social skills.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for various audiences.
- Strong computer skills, including sound knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPointt.
The Program Manager (PM) is expected to take the lead on managing, coordinating, and monitoring all activities of OpenMinds. Besides leading the overall organizational leadership and management, they are expected to oversee the fundraising activities of the organization to increase funding for OpenMinds’ objectives. To do so, they are expected to identify new potential strategic partnerships, write grant proposals, and work closely with the head of fundraising to maximize fundraising opportunities. The PM will be in charge of maintaining the bookkeeping of the organization under the supervision of the Treasurer including all finance and legal matters. The PM will coordinate with all heads of committees the workflow for each committee to insure proper implementation and execution of agreed plans. Today, besides the Executive Committee, we have 4 active committees (fundraising, communication/awareness, packages, scholarships/integration). The PM has two full time employees reporting to them, a program coordinator and a communication associate. The PM will be primarily reporting to the President but will have a dotted line reporting to different heads of committees as well.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Provide Organizational Leadership and Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the organization, including program implementation, fundraising, and financial management.
- Develop and implement organizational policies and procedures.
- Prepare and present regular reports to the organization's board of directors, donors, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive organizational records.
- Manage the organization's budget, financial reporting, and fiscal accountability.
- Recruit, train, and manage staff, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to staff members.
- Fundraising:
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies to secure financial resources for OM.
- Research and identify grant opportunities. Write and submit grant proposals. Manage grant reporting requirements.
- Identify and cultivate corporate sponsorship opportunities. Develop sponsorship packages and proposals. Manage relationships with corporate partners.
- Identify potential new donors and funding opportunities and submit proposals to allow the organization to secure the necessary funding to serve its mission.
- Plan and organize fundraising events. Coordinate logistics for special events. Manage event budgets and post-event evaluations.
- Ensure adequate acknowledgment and visibility of the donor contribution at all levels to establish and maintain relationships.
- Program Development and Implementation:
- Oversee the design and development of programs and projects aligned with the Openminds's mission and goals.
- Oversee the day-to-day implementation of programs, ensuring activities are carried out effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of programs to assess impact and make improvements.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Public Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community partners, donors, and the public.
- Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners.
- Represent Openminds at conferences, meetings, and other events.
- Advocate for the organization's mission and objectives with government agencies, policymakers, and the public.
- Manage public relations and communications to enhance the organization's reputation.
- Financial Management and Compliance:
- Ensure that all the books and records of the organization are in good orders.
- Oversee project budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and financial accountability.
- Act as the point of contact with accountants, auditors, and lawyers.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
